*Xaviers point of view*
While Avery finished shopping I snuck away to look at some rings, I knew she wouldn’t be ready for that type of commitment anytime soon but I wanted to be prepared for when I thought the time was right. After I was done looking at the rings I headed to the restroom.
“Hey handsome!” Oh god this can’t be happening right now, I looked up and saw Ashley standing there arms stretched wide waiting for me to come and swoop her up in my arms.
“You’ve got to be joking, I told you I found my mate, what we had is no longer now please leave. I need to get back to her soon.” I knew if Avery caught me with her I’d be in a world of trouble and she’d just be hurt, even if nothing was happening seeing the person you love with another woman hurts.
“I know what you said but you know I don’t care, she isn’t me. I know my way around your body almost as good as my own.” She wasn’t lying but she still didn’t compare to Avery or the way Avery made me feel.
“Ashley I’m serious.” She walked up and started to wrap her arms around me and kiss me when I pushed her away. I felt eyes on me and my heart immediately aches, Avery must have seen us. I quickly looked around but she was no where in sight.
“ You’re no fun anymore, come on are you sure you don’t want a quickie in the bathroom?” She gave me a devilish grin.
“Ashley you need to go.” She pouted at me. A year ago that would have made me give in and she knew that but I had Avery now, no girl would ever compare to her.
“Fine. But you know who to call when you get lonely.” She batted her eyes at me and turned on her heels to walk away, making sure to move her hips in all the right ways to try and pull me back in. I found my way back to Lucas.
“Where’s Avery?” He pointed towards the restrooms and my heart dropped she did see us. How was I going to explain that to her, and that’s exactly where Ashley went to. I hope she’s okay.
Just then Avery comes walking out, her head held high but tears threatening to pour out of them. What happened in there?
“Hey princess you ready to go?” She didn’t respond just nodded her head and kept looking up. She was mad, furious at that. What did Ashley say to her?
“Avery I can tell something is wrong what’s going on?” She wouldn’t look at me though. Great.
*Ashleys point of view*
I walked into the bathroom head held high, I knew that little wench of a mate came in here.
“I don’t even know why he’s bothering with her, she’ll never be me and never be able to please him the way I do.” I pretended to be on my phone while she stood there washing her hands, as soon as those words left my mouth her cheeks went red.
“Anyways I’ve got to go, I have some business to take care of.” I quickly put my phone back in my purse and looked over at her.
“Oh your shirt is so cute where did you get it?” Was Xavier really that stupid? Did he really give her some of my old clothes I had left there?
“Oh thank you um it was my boyfriends moms shirt.” I couldn’t help but chuckle he really went for that. His mom hasn’t been around for ages, when she left his dad immediately got rid of all her things.
“Oh is that what he told you? Why don’t you take a whiff.” I moved closer motioning for her smell my. She took a long deep breath and her face drained of its color.
“Yeah sorry to tell you sweetheart but that was my shirt.” I winked at her and walked out. I’m sure that was enough to plant a seed of doubt. They wouldn’t last long now. Knowing she had me as competition. I was tall easily 5’6 with long brown hair that flowed gracefully down my back in gentle waves, and dark almond skin and pale green eyes. I was absolutely gorgeous and she would never amount to me. That little peasant. I broke from my thoughts when my phone started ringing.
“Layla perfect timing, you pathetic excuse of a friend just left, thank you for letting me know they’d be here. Please make sure to let Zeke know that she doesn’t seem to be marked yet.” Xavier would be absolutely stupid to mark her. She’s not me. I was supposed to be his Luna, gave myself to him, devoted my life to him to make sure he was always happy.
“Thank you Ashley, he’s going to be pleased to hear that. Please make sure you pick up more mint while you’re out, I need it for the potion he asked me to work on.” Poor poor Avery just double crossed by every single person she’s ever known to love and trust. Her boyfriend just used to gather information about where she lived. Her best friend, who she would always run and tell every secret to. That’s how we knew she was able to transform into her wolf, and that’s how Layla knew to make a potion to suppress her wolf once Zeke kidnapped her. I wasn’t really part of the team but me and Zeke had one common goal, he wanted Avery and I wanted Xavier. I felt myself chuckle again. Foolish girl. .
*Averys point of view*
Did he see her while I was gone? Why would he still have her clothes around. I don’t understand. I couldn’t let him know something was wrong. I walked out of the bathroom and towards him and Lucas with my head held high, tears threatening to spill over.
“Hey princess you ready to go?” I couldn’t even look at him I was so mad and hurt, I just nodded my head.
“Avery I can tell something is wrong, what’s going on?” I didn’t look at him. I just continued walking. I grabbed some of my bags from Lucas and we made our way back to the car. The drive home was quiet. I needed to ask questions but I didn’t want to talk to him right now. Just then my phone went off.
A- hey this is Abigail from the pack house doctors office, I just wanted to let you know your test result today came back negative for anything. Please come back in two weeks so we can test again.-
M- okay thank you for letting me know. I’ll see you again then. Is there any way we can test for pregnancy this time? I don’t think I am but I need to be sure.-
A- of course, I will let the doctor know to add that to the chart.-
M- actually can we keep that between us? I don’t want anyone else to know if I am but me and you if I do happen to be pregnant.-
A- of course your secret is safe with me.-
When I got off the phone Xavier was just staring at me. Trying to study me and see what was going through my head. I just looked away. I couldn’t even look at him right now. I was so mad. But more confused than anything.
“My lady.” Xavier broke me from my thoughts when he opened my door.
“Oh don’t try to suck up now, I’m going to my room. Please do not bother me until dinner is done.” I needed to talk to Layla, maybe she could come over.
I walked into the house and asked one of the omegas to point me to my room. She pointed up the stairs and said it was the last door on the left. Great right next to Xaviers room. I quickly walked up the stares as I heard Xavier trying to holler for me. I didn’t have time for him right now. I made my way to my room. I opened the door and it looked exactly as I had imagined white creamy walls with a sage accent wall and sage sheets, the sheets I wanted for comfort when I needed to be alone now just made me want to vomit. How did they get this done so fast though? That didn’t matter now, I pulled out my phone to call Layla.
L-hey girl, I didn’t know if I’d ever hear from you again I’ve been so worried.-
M- yeah well I’m sure mom told you I was kidnapped. Xavier finally hunted me down yesterday thank god.-
L- that’s so good to hear I’m glad you’re safe. Tell me everything.-
I started talking about Zeke and what he tried to do and even told her that Dylan was working with him.
M- and then today this wench, I don’t even know her name walked into the bathroom while we were at the mall and told me that her and Xavier used to hook up and that I would never be what he needed me to be.-
I just started sobbing, my whole life felt like it was falling apart. I just needed Xavier but I would never be good enough for him, especially compared to her.
L- oh Avery I’m so sorry, do you need me to come over? If so just send me the address and I’ll be over there shortly.-
M- please, I’ll drop you the pin, let the guards know I sent you.-
We hung up the phone and I went and changed into some of my old sweats and put on my favorite band t-shirt. Layla showed up within thirty minutes of us getting off the phone. I’m so glad I have a friend like her to count on, even when everything was going on I knew I always had her to count on.
“Wow your room is gorgeous!” She exclaimed as she stood in the doorway.
“Don’t just stand there get in here and give me a hug!” She quickly ran over and hugged me. We hugged for what felt like an hour, I started to cry.
“Hey girl don’t worry it’ll all be okay I’m here for you. Always.” She wiped the tears from my face and I just smiled at her sheepishly.
“So movies and pizza!?” She knew how to cheer me up no matter what, I nodded.
“I need to text Xavier and let him know I won’t make it for dinner, we can just order in?” She nodded, we’re both craving that littler hole in the wall pizzeria we discovered many years ago.
“Don’t worry about texting Xavier he’s not worth your time right now. Let him worry about you. He knows you’re safe here right now and that’s all he needs to know. Let him bask in his mistakes he’ll come looking for you if he gets desperate enough.” She was always so smart and clever with her words and ideas, it always made her seem older than she was.
“ thank you I don’t know what I’d do without you, it’s bad enough I lost Dylan and found out he was playing for the other team. I don’t know what I would do if I lost you too.” She just smiled at me and patted my hand.
“Of course girl you can always count on me, so how about that pizza?” She pulled out her phone and called the pizza in. It showed up 40 minutes later and we spent the rest of the night talking and watching scary movies only leaving once to go get drinks, I didn’t see or smell Xavier the whole time we were out of the room.
“Wake up sleepy head!” I must have dozed off, I woke up to Layla poking me in the arm, with the sun shining through the curtains.
“Ugh no five more minutes mom!” She just laughed at me.
“Someone just came up here and said breakfast was ready, we need to go eat and then we can do whatever you want the rest of the day.” I sighed rolling over to look at her.
“Fine, we’ll go eat and then I want to have a salon day.” I rolled off the bed and went to the bathroom. I should change my clothes but I didn’t feel like it. I walked out and grabbed her by the hand and we went to the kitchen.
“Good morning princess.” I immediately stiffened up as his scent began to suffocate me.
“Xavier.” I said cooly I wasn’t in the mood to talk still, but I knew I couldn’t avoid him forever.
“I don’t know what’s going on between us Avery but we should talk soon.” I just shook my head. This was my chance to hit him where it hurt.
“Why don’t you call that girl from the mall yesterday, she seems to have all the time in the world for you and she knows exactly what you want. Now if you don’t mind me and Layla are going to eat and then head to town to get our toes and nails done. I don’t want you coming with us.” Layla looked at me and gave me a thumbs up, I’ve never been the best and standing up for myself I could only imagine how excited she actually was.
“Fine. Axel will escort you.” I nodded and went to sit down. Breakfast smelled delicious, peanut butter pancakes, with fresh strawberries, bacon and mango smoothies. I still couldn’t eat much but this was my favorite meal. I devoured as much as my stomach could handle before dismissing myself and Layla.
“Girl. I am SO proud of you!” She hugged me tight. As we walked back up to my room. When I walked in all the clothes I had purchased yesterday we’re folded neatly on my bed. This was my chance to show Xavier what he was missing out on and how much better I was than that girl from the mall. I picked out one of my new pairs of skinny jeans that had holes in the knees and couple up on the thighs.
“Okay Lay get me a shirt.” She squealed she loved dressing me up. She walked back out of my closet with a few different options. Holding them up against my chest before throwing them on the bed.
“Mmm this one!” She said holding up and emerald green crop top with a dangerously low v-neck. I nodded. I slipped out of my sweats and went to the shower. I used my favorite rose body wash and shaved my legs and thoroughly washed my hair. The one thing that was great about this house was the water seemed to never get cold. Once I was done I stepped into a soft red towel and wrapped myself in it.
“Avery, I’m stepping out for a second someone is here to talk to you.” I could tell who it was just by the scent. I heard him clear his throat as he stood in my bathroom doorway.
“I don’t have time to talk right now. I’m trying to get ready for a girls day.” He just walked towards me and put his hand on my shoulder.
“Avery I don’t know what’s going on but I promise you there’s nothing going on between me and Ashley, I haven’t seen her in a year.” Ashley she must be the girl from the mall.
“Then why did you give me her clothes, why are her clothes even still here at your house!?” Even if they hadn’t seen each other in a year there was no excuse to keep her clothes around.
“We kept them for rogues that could potentially come through looking for shelter, everyone’s old clothes get passed down for that.” It made sense but I was still angry.
“Even if that’s the truth I’m still mad, it doesn’t explain why she was all over you yesterday. Now please go so I can get ready.” He just sighed and walked out. I heard my bedroom door open again and Layla appeared in the doorway this time.
“I don’t know how much longer I can resist him, Layla I love him. Which is crazy because he’s still a perfectly good stranger but he has this way with me.” She just laughed at me and hugged me.
“Okay enough get ready.” I walked to my bed and grabbed my clothes, I put on a new thong, I hated them but I knew that men really loved them and I wanted to give him a taste of his own medicine. I decided to go braless so my n*****s would peak through my shirt, I could almost guarantee he wouldn’t let me out of the house without putting on different clothes but today, he couldn’t stop me.
Once I put my clothes on I stepped back into the bathroom to put on make up and fix my hair. Once my hair was dry I threw half of my curls into a top knot while taking a curling wand to the other half picking and choosing random strand to curl, and then used mousse on the rest of it, this is the most I’ve ever tamed my hair. I then did my make up, I went for a more natural look today, I applied some foundation, a little bit of blush and mascara. Even with such a simple look I still felt beautiful. Mascara was all I needed to make my blue eyes pop and my red hair was rather curly and tame today. I felt empowered.
“Okay what do you think?” Layla just raised her eyebrows up and down at me. I needed to pick out some shoes really quick.I settled for some brown Jesus sandals and threw in a dainty pearly necklace and put some simple pearl studs in. This was it. I looked great.
* Xaviers point of view*
Avery came trotting down the stairs. She looked beautiful. As I examined her closer I could see that she wasn’t wearing a bra, her n*****s poked through her shirt, hard from rubbing up against the fabric. She was crazy if I thought she would leave like that.
“Avery a moment?” She turned and looked at me and shook her head.
“I’m sorry Alpha but I don’t have any time for you today, me and Layla have important things to do. Please let Axel know we’re ready.” She walked past me and out the front door. She was going to be the death of me.
“Axel please don’t let her get into any trouble.” He nodded his head and walked out. Now that she was gone out of the house I had some things I needed to try and focus my attention on. Not the fact that my mate, my Avery was going to be running around Florida looking like a goddess for everyone to see.
“Lucas please send for my father we have to discuss some training deltails for my fight on Friday.” He nodded his head and left the room. I made my way into the common area and sat down on one of the sofas. This place felt so empty without Averys presence I never realized how lonely I was. The pack house here in Florida wasn’t huge because we had multiple little cottages set out amongst the grounds for people to stay in. The only people who stayed in the pack house with me, was my Gamma Brent, and his mate Francis they stayed on the first floor, my beta Axel who at this time was still unmated but once he found her they would have the second floor and then me, I was on the third floor along with my mate. The first floor had the common room which had a big flat screen tv and a few gaming devices, a pool table, darts and a few other games that I couldn’t think of right now. The kitchen and dining area were also on the first floor, we had one small dining area where my gamma, beta and I would all eat breakfast and then a separate building outback for the other pack members to meet at and eat. We also had a few warriors staying in the house with us, they took up residence on the second floor with Axel until he found his mate and then they’d move outside. The cottages outside houses all of the omegas, hunter, and warriors and of course their families. It wasn’t my favorite set up but it would do for now, we had a lot of other activities to do outside one of my favorites being the pool.
“Lucas said you wanted to see me Xavier?” My dad came walking in and pulled me out of my thoughts
“Ah yes, we can make our way to the gym. I’m having Levi meet us there to train with me.” I needed to work on my strategy and fight in every way possible to make sure I was prepared for any way Zeke decided to strike.
We walked to the gym and Levi stood there waiting for us. We began fighting as my dad gave me pointers in the best way to take down my opponent. There was no room for error when the time came. Averys life was at stake.
*Averys point of view*
We pulled in to a little outlet mall and made our way inside Rose’s Nail salon, we didn’t get our nails done often but when we did we always came here.
“Good afternoon ladies what are we getting done today?” I hadn’t thought that far. How much money did I have to spend I opened my wallet. $40 I could get my nails and toes done.
“I want a mani and a pedi please, I just want a simple French tip on both.” She nodded her head and took me to me seat.
“Yeah I’ll do the same thing she is” Layla nodded in agreement, this is a first she usually has to go all out, the bright shines colors diamond galore. They walked her to the seat next to mine, we sat there and chatted about this morning and what was going on is Layla’s life, she finally had a boyfriend. She wouldn’t tell me his name though which disappointed me but she would when she was ready. Before we even realized it we both were done.
“Okay that’s $45 for you and you as well.” They pointed at me and Layla and I began to pull the cash out of wallet. Axel stepped in and handed him a card.
“What was that? I could of payed for myself.” He shook his head no.
“Sorry Xavier told me to pay for anything we do today.” I felt like a child, not being able to pay for my own things. I didn’t need to be dependent on a man.
“Well tell him, I don’t need his money I’m grown and can pay for myself.” Which wasn’t entirely true I was $5 short and I would even run out of money because I no longer had a job.
“Sorry miss, I listen to my Alpha.” I just huffed and walked out. He followed me out and I turned to look at him.
“Fine if that’s how it’s going to be, we’re going to get coffee too.” He nodded his head, Layla was now with us and we climbed into the car. We drove away and stopped at a local coffee shop. I ended getting an iced caramel macchiato and Layla got a caramel frappuccino and we headed home. Layla couldn’t stay any longer she had other things to do, she hugged me goodbye and thanked me for the girls day. I hugged her and told her goodbye and then went into the house. Xavier was sitting on the couch waiting for me. His eyes immediately falling to my chest. His eyes went dark and I heard a growl rumble up through his chest. My plan was working perfectly. He walked over to me and grabbed me by the hand kissing the top of it and every single one of my fingers.
“Princess please forgive me, it wasn’t what it looked like, I told her to leave me alone. I’m sorry she she said anything to you in the bathroom. I didn’t know she was going to do that. I love you please.” My mouth fell open, he said he loved me. I felt him caress my cheek and I looked into his beautiful blue eyes. I couldn’t stay mad at him.
“Fine, but you have to make it up to me somehow.” His mouth grew wide in a grin as he took my hand again and led me me upstairs. My heart grew giddy with joy and my insides began to burn. I knew what was coming. I longed for what was coming. Despite the last couple of days feeling him touch me brought me so much peace and comfort and I needed him to touch me more, I needed him to touch every inch of my body. We reached the bedroom door and he opened it. He walked me over and sat me on the bed and then went back to close the door. I was so ready for what was coming next.
