It Wasn’t Supposed To Be Like This

Chapter 11

*Xaviers point of view*

I awoke the next morning to an empty bed. The smell of vanilla and sugar plum still strong in the room, she must have just left. I rolled out of bed and walked into my bathroom taking a look at myself in the mirror, my blonde hair falling into my eyes. I guess it’s time for a hair cut.

“Good morning sleepy head.” I hear Avery open the bedroom door and my nostrils instantly fill with some heavenly scent.

“Mm what’s that?” She’s holding a tray of food but I can’t quite tell what’s on it. All I know is it smells delicious.

“A family recipe, beignets filled with raspberry jam with powdered sugar and honey over the top, eggs, sausage and bacon, and last but not least coffee.” She made to sure to add extra emphasis to coffee, after the night we had last night I definitely needed it and she knew that. She still wasn’t ready to go all the way, but we had a lot of fun exploring each other’s body’s with our hands.

“Thank you princess this looks delicious.” She handed me the tray of food as I sat on the bed, she crawled up in next to me. We began eating and talking about our plans for the day.

“I have to train for a bit today, that way I’m prepared for Friday.” She just looked at me with big puppy dog eyes.

“Don’t look at me like that Avery, I have to be on my A game. I’m sorry but your life is at stake here.” She sighed and just nodded her head. I loved this girl and I couldn’t wait for our life together to begin.

“I’ll be back later okay? I promise just wait here for me. I’ll be back before you know it.” I got up and went to get changed. I could see her trying to peer around the doorway while I was changing. I couldn’t help but chuckle. Once I was done changing I walked out and kissed her on the forehead.

“I’ll be back soon princess.” I walked out of the room and made my way to the gym.

“Alright Levi same as every other time, we need to practice in every single position. I need to be prepared for whatever he may try.” He nodded his head and we began to brawl. I couldn’t lie, training was my favorite part of the day, other than seeing Avery whenever I could. We continued brawling back and forth for hours going over every possible situation.

“Levi I think I’ve done enough today, I need to get back and check on Avery.” He nodded his head and I left. I wanted to check on Avery but I also desperately needed a shower. I made my way to my room. When I opened the door Avery was laying on the bed asleep, she hasn’t had a moment to rest the way she needed to since we’ve gotten her back. I pulled out my phone and quickly snapped a picture of her and headed to shower.

“Showering without me huh?” What the hell, it was Ashley. How’d she even get in here without me or Avery noticing?

“What are you even doing here!?” My blood was starting to boil. She really didn’t know when to stop.

“I’m here for you handsome, what else would I be doing here?” She knew I had a mate and I’m sure she even seen her laying there sleeping when she made her way in here.

“I’m not yours anymore, my heart belongs to Avery now.” She rolled her eyes at my response.

“Oh come on, one last time won’t hurt she’s sleeping she wouldn’t even know.” She started making her way towards me slowly stripping off the little clothes she had on to begin with. I looked away

“Ashley you need to go this isn’t going to happen.” She didn’t listen to me and kept undressing herself

*Averys point of view*

I awoke to the sound of the shower running, I grinned from ear to ear. My favorite pass time right now was anything I was able to do with Xavier but showering with him fell at the top of the list. I made my way towards the door, it was slightly cracked open, it was his way of leaving me an invitation to join him if I chose to. I froze in my tracks when I started to open the door.

“Oh come on now, one last time won’t hurt.” It was Ashley. How did she even get in here without waking me up. Better yet what was she even doing here and why was she in the bathroom with Xavier!? I couldn’t stay in here any longer. He lied to me again. It wasn’t over between them. I ran out of the room and slammed the door shut. I couldn’t even see where I was running from the tears in my eyes. I ran straight into someone.

“I’m so sorry I didn’t see you there.” I quickly wiped the tears away, I didn’t want anyone to see me crying.

“It’s okay, I actually have been meaning to come and talk to you.” I look up to see a man who looks oddly like Xavier.

“I’m sorry I.. I don’t know who you are.” He looks down at me and chuckles. Patting me on the shoulder.

“It’s alright young lady, you and my son haven’t had a lot of time to talk and get to know about one another, with you being kidnapped and all.” His son? This must be Xaviers dad. I don’t want to talk to anyone right now but I don’t want to be rude.

“Oh uh hi, yeah I’m sorry I haven’t met you yet, things have been so crazy.” He nodded his head, he understood.

“My names August, we should have a dinner soon to formally introduce you, and maybe it will help take everyone’s mind off the fight Friday. You could ask Danielle, Xaviers sister to help plan it if you’d like.” Sister I didn’t even know he had a sister. There was so much to learn about still.

“I honestly don’t know if I’m ready for anything like that right now, and honestly I don’t want to be formally introduced since we don’t know what the outcome will be Friday. But I would like to meet Danielle.” He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed.

“Well Danielle isn’t actually here right now, she went to college a couple of years ago, she should be coming back soon. I think she wrote me and told me she’d be back on..Friday.” If she were coming back then surely she knew about the fight and that’s why she was coming back.

“Okay, well I guess we could do some form of dinner just so I can meet more people around the pack house, my only friend here right now is Xavier. Even right now I don’t know if he’s my..” I trailed off, I shouldn’t talk to his dad about this. Maybe he would know more though.

“You don’t know if your own mate is your friend right now? What has my son done this time.” I really shouldn’t tell him but I needed someone to talk to who’s been around him and would know the truth.

“Well there’s this girl, her names Ashley she was at the mall the other day and she told me I’d never be her or be able to please Xavier the way she does and then just now when I woke up she was in the bathroom with him while he was showering.” He just chuckled at me. Why is he laughing this is serious.

“Oh sweet girl, I can promise you Ashley is the least of your concerns, sure her and Xavier slept together but that was before you, the moment he found you he cut his ties with her and hasn’t given her a second glance since. He’s not a man w***e. Heck even when he was with Ashley he was devoted only to her even though he knew she wasn’t his mate. I promise you have nothing to worry about. Also to ease your mind more, he was devoted to her but she wasn’t to him, you have only been with Xavier since you found each other, you’re devoted to him which makes the bond even stronger.” I sighed that made me feel better but I still didn’t like the fact that she kept trying.

“Does she live on the pack grounds?” He nodded his head, that made me angry. She didn’t deserve to even be close to him anymore, she was trying to ruin everything. I wasn’t going down without a fight. He was mine. And I was going to do whatever it took to prove my worth.

*Ashleys point of view*

I made my way to Xaviers room, a journey I used to take every night. I was all to familiar with this. I walked into his room and saw that little stupid wench laying on my bed asleep. I wanted to vomit. I heard the shower running and the door slightly cracked. He used to do that at night so I would know to come in and join. I moved further into the room making sure to be as quiet as possible so I didn’t wake her up just yet.

“Showering with me huh?” He turned around with a shocked look on his face. He was expecting Avery.

“What are even doing here!?” I hated when my pumpkin was upset with me. I had to make things better between us I needed him to know I still wanted him even if he thought he wanted that disgusting girl out there.

“I’m here for you handsome, what else would I be doing here?” Is he just that dumb, I’m not interested in anyone else and I’m sure as hell not interested in this twit out there.

“I’m not yours anymore, my heart belongs Avery now.” Oh blah blah blah. “Mate this, mate that.” So pathetic who even cares about that stupid mate bond anymore. When you wanted something you just had to take it, I heard someone stir in the bedroom, she was awake now. My time to shine.

“Oh come on now, one last time won’t hurt.” Hook line and sinker. I heard her run out of the room. I started to walk towards him, stripping off what little clothes I had on, anytime I came to see Xavier I didn’t wear much because it didn’t stay on long anyways.

“Ashley you need to go, this isn’t going to happen.” I ignored him and kept walking towards him.

“But baby please don’t you want this?” He turned to look at me, finally. His eyes grew dark. He wanted me, who knows the last time she gave it up for him. He walked towards me and put his hands on my hips pushing me towards the wall. This was going to be good. I felt his hands trail up my body and to my neck.

“IF YOU EVER DARE TO TRY THIS AGAIN I WONT HESITATE ON SNAPPING YOUR NECK.” His hands tightened around my neck and he lifted me up off the floor.

“Do you understand me?” I just nodded my head and he dropped me back to the floor, why didn’t he want me? Why wasn’t I enough for him?

“Now get out of here before I change my mind.” I quickly gathered my clothes before running out. This is the last time he chooses her over me. I need to call that witch Layla.

I made my way back to my cottage before I pulled my phone out to call her.

L-I’ve been waiting for you to call me. Do you have anything new?-

M- not yet but I know he’s dead set on her being his mate, is there any way we could put this plan into motion sooner?-

L- I’m sorry but no, Zeke is very adamant on keeping true to the plan.-

M-ugh fine this is stupid but if he insists, I will keep on doing what I’m doing, he’ll come around eventually right?-

L- one can hope, now I’ve got to go I’m putting my finishing touches on this potion, I have to make sure it’s perfect. Call me later if you find out anything else.-

I hung up the phone and plopped down on my bed. I don’t know how to change his mind but I wasn’t going to give up.

*Xaviers point of view*

After I finally got Ashley to leave I finished my shower and went to get dressed. Avery was gone. I hope she didn’t see Ashley and just went to eat or something.

“Axel meet me in my office in 20 minutes I have some work to do and plans to discuss with you.”

“I’ll be there.”

Even though I was the Alpha of the pack I still had other things to do to make money. I also had to make sure the pack business was running smoothly and that the peace treaties we had with other packs remained. Outside of the pack I owned a few businesses, one being the mall, I didn’t tell Avery that I owned it when were there the other day, I felt like I could have been bragging. Before I headed to my office I needed to go find Avery, I walked into the dining hall, she wasn’t there.

“Abigail have you seen Avery?” She shook her head no. Where the heck could she be. I walked back up to my room, she wasn’t there either. I walked into her room, finally. She was laying there on the bed in black lingerie, that was almost see through.

“Axel I’m gonna need to move our meeting back a little bit, somethings come up.”

I didn’t wait for him to respond before I made my way over to her.

“What are you doing princess?” She looked up at me with her big blue eyes. I couldn’t tell what she was thinking or what she wanted.

“You seem to like girls who don’t respect themselves so I’m here for you to do whatever you want to me.” What was she.. Ashley she had seen Ashley this morning in the bathroom.

“Avery stop. She doesn’t mean anything to me and I mean that. The moment I found out you were my mate I cut things off with her. She just isn’t ready to let me go yet. Avery I haven’t even given her a second thought since I met you. Just because she tries to give herself away so easy doesn’t mean that’s what I need to want you.” These last few months have been rough for her, especially just the last week. I know she’s not ready to have s*x again yet. I don’t even know if she’ll ever be ready again. I wouldn’t blame her either.

“But Xavier I’m ready, at least I think. I don’t know what’s going on but I feel this strong burning desire to be with you, and I’m burning up.” Burning up? What was she talking about. Surely she isn’t already having her heat.

“Uh Brent can you please send Francis up here, I need a woman’s advice.”

“She’s on her way Alpha.”

“Avery I need you to cover up please, someone is on there way.” I felt bad I knew that during her head she needed me but I wasn’t allowed to until after Friday. I heard a knock on the door.

“Alpha it’s Francis, what can I help you with?” Oh thank heavens she was here. I needed to get out of here before her heat came back in full swing and Isaac tried to take over and finish the mating process.

“Uh I believe Avery has gotten her first heat, I can’t be around her right now because I don’t want to do anything stupid and I’m not allowed to do anything to her until after Friday.” She nodded her head, I was lucky to have a pack like mine that was so understanding.

“Of course Alpha, I will take care of her until her heat passes. Please have food brought to her, I wouldn’t want any of the other unmated wolves to smell her and try to do anything either. We will see you in a few days. I will take good care of her I promise.” I nodded and left the room, I could smell her heat rising again.

*Averys point of view*

After talking with Xaviers dad I knew I had to do something. I made me way to my closet and found the skimpiest lingerie I could find and put it on and laid down on the bed, I knew he’d come looking for me sooner or later. As I laid down I got extra dizzy and hot, and I had this burning desire to have s*x with Xavier. I didn’t even want to have s*x with him yet. I wasn’t ready but I needed him now.

“What are you doing princess?”I looked up at him staring into his beautiful blue eyes. He was searching my face for an answer.

“You seem to like girls who don’t respect themselves so i’m here for you to do whatever you want to me.” It wasn’t entirely true, I didn’t want him to do whatever but Ashley threw herself at him like this and he seemed to be enticed by it every time.

“Avery stop. She doesn’t mean anything to me and I mean that. The moment I found out you were my mate I cut things off with her. She just isn’t ready to let me go yet. Avery I haven’t even given her a second thought since I met you. Just because she tries to give herself away so easy doesn’t mean that’s I need to want you.” That’s not what it seemed like in the bathroom earlier but I also didn’t stay around long enough to hear anymore.

“But Xavier I’m ready, at least I think. I don’t know what’s going on but I feel this strong burning desire to be with you, and I’m burning up.” He didn’t say anything else to me except for telling me to cover up. I passed out on the bed exhausted as heat waves started to crash over me.

I awoke the next morning to a strange woman sleeping on the couch in my room. She wasn’t awake yet so I went to shower, I felt disgusting. I quickly showered and made my way to my closest, I pulled opened the doors and just looked around, what did I want to wear?

“Avery is that you?” I turned around and gasped. I forgot I wasn’t alone.

“Uh yeah it is me, um who are you?” She looked familiar I’ve seen her around the pack house I had just never gotten her name before.

“My names Francis, I’m Brents mate, which is Xaviers Gamma. I’m going to be with you the next couple of days. You have come into your first heat and it’s super dangerous for you to be around Xavier or any other unmated pack member for that matter.” That’s why I have been burning up. I didn’t want to be away from Xavier but it was for my safety and his.

“Oh, okay. How will we know when it’s over?” I hope this didn’t last long, I wanted to be back with Xavier as soon as possible.

“Oh trust me honey, you’ll know. I will tell you, unless your needs are being satisfied your heat can cause excruciating pain, take lots of baths and cool showers that will help a lot.” I just nodded my head and braced myself for the days to come.

She wasn’t lying as the days went by the worse the pain became. I took at least a dozen baths and barely ate any food. Finally on the third day the pain and heat waves started to ease up.

“Francis I think it’s finally over, I think tonight will be my last night away from Xavier before I can be with him again.” I smiled thinking about how close I was to being with him again.

“I’m afraid that day might not come. He supposed to fight Zeke tonight.” Had that much time really passed? Was it really time for him to fight already.

“Francis I have to go, I have to be there with him tonight.” She looked at me with sad eyes.

“I will have to talk to Xavier but I don’t know if that’s going to happen. I will come back in an hour.” I nodded and she left the room.I hoped he would let me. I missed him so much. Thirty minutes later I could smell him at the door. He opened the door and just stood there looking at me. He looked better today than he ever has, he finally got a hair cut. He was wearing a dark blue button down with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and the first three buttons undone and his gold chain was peeking through, he had khaki jeans on and brown loafers. He looked delicious.

“Avery, Francis has informed me that your heat has potentially passed and you would like to accompany me tonight to the fight, is that correct?” I couldn’t form any words right now seeing him there again was overwhelming. I just nodded my head.

“If you truly feel like you are able to come tonight you can but if things get to ugly, you have to leave okay? I nodded my head again, he took a couple of steps towards me and caressed my cheek slightly rubbing his thumb on my cheek bone.

“I will have someone bring you a formal dress to wear tonight. Because if I win we will be coming back here immediately to introduce you as our new Luna. I want you to look your best.” I was so excited I couldn’t move, I couldn’t talk I just stood there and looked at him in awe.

“Th..thank you.” I finally muttered. He nodded his head and walked out of the room. I needed to freshen up and get ready for tonight.
