It Wasn’t Supposed To Be Like This

Chapter 9

*Xaviers point of view*

M-guys something is wrong, she’s in pain, we have to hurry-

I knew with the pain I was feeling myself what was happening to her, I didn’t have much time now, he was going to mark her. Isaac picked up his speed. We were getting closer and I could hear her screams my stomach dropped.

Alpha to your left.

I looked to my left to see wolves I haven’t seen before, they must be the rogues. They lunged at me, I quickly dodged their advances and the other warriors with me quickly began to attack and tear them apart, I made my way inside. I could smell her she was close. Isaacs ears perked up and listened for the sounds of her screams, why was she quiet now?

Isaac we have to smell her out she’s too quiet now.

He turned his nose up in the air and made his way upstairs, her smell was getting stronger. We stopped at the end of the hallway, I could hear noise coming from just the other side of the door but it wasn’t Avery. I quickly broke through the door. The things I saw unfolding on the bed made my blood boil, Avery was passed out while Zeke kept forcing his way inside of her.

“Nice of you to finally join us Xavier, I was wondering when you’d finally figure out who took “your” precious jewel but you see that’s where things get sticky, she’s mine. She was promised to me long ago by her sweet grandfather, such a pity you have to miss out on something so wonderful.” I didn’t care what I had to do, I needed to say her. I quickly transformed back to my human self.

“Why don’t we fight for her? A good old fashioned duel, we’ll fight to the death, whoever dies first or taps out winner gets her and that will be the end of it.” I could see the wheels turning in his head, he liked this idea and he liked to think he’d be able to show dominance over an Alpha that everyone thinks is strong and mighty.

“One condition, we fight in our wolf form Max against your wolf Isaac.” I knew my chances of winning this fight were high regardless but him suggesting our wolves fight put the win in the bag for me.

“That can be arranged, I have a condition myself, Avery gets to come back to the pack house with me, her family has been moved in so if she goes home she’ll be alone.” He shook his head,.

“I’m going to be honest with you, regardless if she’s at my pack house or back home I will be with her or one of my men will be with her regardless, I won’t try any funny business and mark her or anything until after we fight.” He was pacing back and forth in the room now, trying to decide what was the best approach but he knew I would be with her regardless so there wasn’t a lot of options for him.

“Fine but if I find out at all that you marked her or anything the fight is off, I will come kill you and I’ll take her home with me.” Like I would give her up without a fight regardless.

“Do we have a deal then?” He nodded his head. Good she was coming back to the pack out with me and I knew she’d be safe.

M-Axel please come get Avery from Zeke’s room and carry her down to the car, we will be heading back to the pack house shortly.-

A-on my way alpha-

“I’m leaving now, we will meet back here in a week to fight, just me and your no extra people.” His pack was already small to begin with but after the attack tonight I wasn’t sure what his pack numbers were now but I know we could easily take them again if need be.

“I will see you in one week.” Axel had already come up to the room and grabbed Avery, I needed to get to her fast, we’ve been away from each other way too long.

“Lucas please take us back to the pack house, and please send one of the omegas back to Avery’s house to fetch her things. Make sure she takes a warrior with her.” He nodded his head, I had a lot of respect for Lucas, he was a man of few words but he always got the job done.

The drive back to the pack house was too short. When we pulled in her mom and dad were standing on the steps waiting, on the ride here I had called them and told them of everything that had happened between me and Zeke, except for the fact that I was going back in a week to fight for their daughters hand, it annoyed me so much because Avery wasn’t just some prize to be won she was worth more than that but I had to think quick and find a way for her to get out of there and that was my only option.

“Oh thank heavens you guys made it home safe, I didn’t think I’d ever see her again, how is she?” I honestly wasn’t sure how she was, she slept the whole way here slightly waking up once to ask where we were and I just reassured her and told her to go back to sleep.

“She’s thin and pale, I don’t know what her living conditions were like exactly or how often she ate.” I hadn’t told them that when I walked in on him trying to claim her, that was her business to tell and I honestly didn’t think they were ready to hear that yet.

“Listen I have to head to my office to talk to my father, please have one of the omegas take her up to my room, I have already sent people to the house to fetch her belongings, that way once she’s up and around she can shower and change clothes.” They nodded their heads and waved an omega over to them.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE FIGHTING FOR YOUR OWN MATES HAND!?” My father was furious but I didn’t expect anything less.

“Listen I didn’t have any other option, you walk in to the things I did and tell me you wouldn’t risk your own life for your mate. She was laying there and helpless I did what I had to do.” It wasn’t a lie but it also wasn’t the truth, I could have easily killed him and been on my way, but I needed to make sure he knew who was the actual alpha around here and prove that I was worthy of Avery’s hand.

“This is absurd, but if this is what you think it takes then so be it, but I swear Xavier if you go to this fight and lose you won’t hear the end of it. That is if you make it out alive.” The chances of me not making it out alive were slim but there was still a chance.

*Averys point of view*

I don’t remember anything that happened last night, I awoke in a room that I didn’t recognize, it was huge, a king size bed. The room a dim with a few rays of sunlight coming through just enough for me to see, The room was black with different shades of blue, dark but homey. I could smell something familiar, like sage and pine. Did Xavier get to me in time?

“Good morning my princess.” I heard that soothing familiar voice and looked over to the door to see Xavier standing there. I couldn’t help but smile he was here he had gotten to me in time. I was home. Wait I wasn’t home home.. where was I?

“You’re at my pack house, I moved your parents in after you were taken, I know you would have liked to go home, but it wasn’t safe and you would have been alone, one of the omegas went and fetched your things, now the only question is would you like to stay here in my room with me or have your own room?” After the thing Zeke did to me, having my own room and space would be nice so I could cope with the emotions I felt about the whole situation but being with my mate again brought on a whole new sense of peace and comfort.. I didn’t know what to choose.

“Is there any way I could have my things put in another room that way if I need some space I have another safe haven to go to?” He nodded his head thank heavens.

“Is there any certain way you’d like that room to be decorated? I want to make you as comfortable as possible, and once you become Luna we will transform that into your office.” I wasn’t ready to be a Luna yet.. that thought scared me.

“Don’t worry Avery you won’t be a Luna until you are absolutely ready.” I swear he could read my mind.

“So my room, um, I think I want it a creamy white color with lots of plants, and a sage green accent wall, with sage sheets, and white accent pillows.” Being in a room surrounded by plants really sounded like my safe haven, it would give me fresh air easy to breath and the sage green would remind me of the comfort I found in Xavier.

“Okay princess I can arrange that, I also would like you to go shopping for new clothing and undergarments.” I didn’t want to go shopping I didn’t want to be away from him for a second.

“I will be going with you along with Lucas and Axel, the two men I trust the most in this pack, you will always be guarded and safe. Now please go shower so we can head to the mall.” I just looked up at him, I didn’t want to even go to the bathroom alone.

“Will you please come shower with me, I don’t want to be alone right now, even if you think I’m safe within your pack walls, I don’t feel safe enough to be alone yet.” He nodded his head, in one quick motion he swooped me up in his arms and carried me to the bathroom and sat me down on the sink. He slowly raised my shirt of my head I was still sore from last night I winced from the pain.

“It’s okay princess you can cry if you need to, and if you feel like it you can go see the pack doctor.” Maybe they would have medicine to take the pain away.

“That would be nice, can we go once we’re done in the shower?” He nodded his head while he turned around to turn on the shower, stripping himself and looking back at me, he picked me up and we stepped into the shower. He began washing my hair ever so gently so he wouldn’t hurt me, and then rinsed my hair and then grabbed the loofah behind me and lathering it up with soap gently wiping it over my body. He handed me the loofah once he was done with my upper half so I could wash my legs and my parts by myself, he knew I was taken advantage of and didn’t want to make me feel even more humiliated than I was. He turned around while I finished washing myself.

“Thank you for being gentle and understanding with me.” He turned back around and proceeded to wash himself, once he was done he stepped out and grabbed me a white fluffy towel and gently wrapped it around my body handing me another for my hair. I walked out of bathroom.

“I uh, I don’t have any clothes to put on right now.” He walked over to the bedroom door and opened it slightly.

“Here this should hold you over until the omega gets back with your things and your room gets organized.” He hands be a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and a green shirt. They smelled different like another girl.

“They belonged to my mother.” He hasn’t talked much about his mom, but I didn’t want to push for information about her, he’d talk when he was ready.

“Thank you, what about..” before I could finish he hands me a new bra and a pair of underwear, ugh a thong I hated these.

“Xavier what happens from here? Things seem to be going to good right now, but I feel like there’s something you’re not telling me.” He sighed i knew it. I also knew I wouldn’t like what he was about to tell me.

“Well you see..” he continued on about how he was supposed to fight Zeke in a week and that whoever won took me home to be their Luna, he told me he didn’t want to fight over me because I wasn’t a prize to be won but it was the only way he could get me out of there. I wasn’t mad at him but I was upset at the thought of having to go back to Zeke, I wasn’t attracted to him and I know without a doubt I never wanted to have s*x with him but he’s already proven to me that he would take me regardless of how I felt.

“There’s something I need to tell you, I remember Zeke telling me before he took advantage that his dad kept trying to get him to wait until I had my first heat that way I could potentially get pregnant with his pup and the powers I possess would continue on through his bloodline. I don’t even know what my heat is.” He sighed again, I guess this new information upset him again. His eyes went black I’m assuming from anger as he relived last night.

“Uh well, it’s kind of like a period, except you’ll get extremely hot, and your scent will heighten alerting all of the unmated males that an unmated female is in heat and they will try to mate with you as well, it last 3 or 4 days and all you want to do the whole time is have sex.” I haven’t had my heat yet this could be dangerous.

“ okay, I don’t want to think about this anymore, we will cross that bridge when we get there.” He nods his head and takes my hand.

“Come let’s get you to the doctor. He can take a look at you and make sure there isn’t any other steps we need to to make sure you heal properly.” I didn’t want to move though, I just wanted him and to be held by him, I look at him, my eyes growing dark with lust, you would think after everything I’ve just been through I wouldn’t want to be touched by a man but I knew he wouldn’t hurt me. He was gentle and careful and cared about respecting my boundaries right now.

“What are you thinking about princess?” I didn’t even notice he was looking at me until I looked up at him, his eyes staring at me with the same lust mine was filled with too and before I could even react he picked me up and pinned me against the wall, I wrapped my legs around his waist while he deepened the kiss. My lungs started to burn. He finally broke the kiss knowing I wasn’t ready for anything else.

“Okay come on we need to go.” I just giggle as we walked out of the room. He takes me across the yard and to a small building next to the territories fence, it looked like it had just recently been renovated. We step inside it has nice cozy feeling to it with different shades of brown and gold accents, and light fixtures in the ceiling making it dim inside.

“Hello Xavier what can I do for you today?” A little old man came walking out from one of the rooms, he had to be at least 60 with long gray hair and light green eyes.

“Hello grandpa, this is Avery my mate she was kidnapped and I just wanted to have her looked over to make sure she was okay and healing properly.” Grandpa I didn’t know he had a grandpa well I mean I guess we all have grandpas he’s just never talked about him before well honestly we haven’t done a lot of talking in general. I had only barely gotten used to the fact that he was my mate before I was kidnapped. He looked me up and down and motioned for us to follow him back to a room.

“She seems to be okay, what all happened while you were there?” I felt my throat tighten, I wasn’t ready to talk about what Zeke tried to do to me yet.

“Um, someone tried to force themselves on me. I think Xavier got to me before anything happened though.” I knew he hadn’t but I didn’t want to say that yet, I didn’t want to know there was a possibility I could be pregnant or anything until I absolutely couldn’t anymore.

“If she’s okay with it I would like a panel ran to make sure she doesn’t have any diseases and I would like them repeated every few weeks after this first initial test to make sure she stays clean and then after a couple of months switch to yearly check ups.” I never thought about that, not only could I be pregnant but I could have an std all because of Zeke. I felt tears welling up in my eyes.

“Hey princess it’s okay, I’m here with you and I’ll hold your hand the entire time, and one of his nurses a female one can come in and take the samples that are needed.” That made me feel a lot better but still the thought of me being vulnerable to someone like that again scared me. I just nodded my head.

“Okay the nurse will be here shortly, I promise we will take good care of you.” He stepped out of the room and 10 minutes later a nurse walked in.

“Hi Avery my names Abigail and I’ll be taking care of you today, I need you to strip from the waist down please. I will step out while you do this and Xavier if you would knock on the door once she’s done please?” He nodded his head and she stepped out. Xavier turned to face the wall, he knew I was already in an extremely vulnerable state and he didn’t want to make it worse.

“I’m ready for her to come in now.” He went and knocked on the door and she came in.

“Okay I need you to lean back and slide all the way down until I tell you to stop, and then I’ll be placing your legs in these stirrups.” Xavier turned towards the wall again while I slid down until she told me to stop.

“This might hurt a little bit and it’s probably going to be uncomfortable and I’m sorry for that.” I felt something cool go between my legs and felt myself open up, I winced from the pain.

“Xavier please come hold my hand.” He quickly turned around and walked over to me making sure not to look down.

“Okay I’m going to insert a swab now, I have to go around 3 times in a circle both ways.” I felt the swab enter and she quickly went around in circles.

“Okay you may get dressed now and then I have to take 3 vials of blood to run a full panel. Knock on the door when she’s ready again please.” She’s been so sweet and delicate this whole process but I could feel tears filling my eyes as she walked out and Xavier just wrapped his arms around me.

“It’s okay princess the worst part is done, one more thing and then we can go eat and shop I promise.” I nodded my head and quickly pulled my underwear and pants back on. Xavier went and knocked on the door after I told him I was ready.

“Okay Avery I’m going to insert this needle into your arm it’ll hurt for a quick second.” I’ve had blood drawn before but never for this reason. I felt like I had a little bit of my humanity stripped away from me that night and bits and pieces were slowly being torn away still. How does someone recover from something like this?

“Okay I’m all done, I’ll see you again in a couple of weeks, and listen if you need anyone to talk to that isn’t a guy, no offense Alpha, I’m here for you okay?” Maybe I would take her up on that sometime, though Xavier was being sweet he was also suffocating me a little bit.

“Thank you, Xavier can we go eat now?” He nodded and we left the office.

“Lucas take us to Circle C Mall please, my lady here has some shopping to do.” He opened my door for me and I crawled in, Xavier went around to the other side and stepped in. The drive to the mall was short and honestly I was glad. The car started to feel like a prison and I felt trapped once again.

“Where would you like to eat?” I haven’t been out to eat in ages and I honestly just wanted some cheesecake.

“I don’t care where just somewhere I can get my hands on cheesecake.” He looked down at me and arched and eyebrow.

“Cheesecake? That’s all you’re eating?” I could tell he wanted me to eat more but I didn’t have a big appetite, even though I was allowed to eat the portions were always small, just enough to keep me alive. What a way to treat the girl you want to be your mate and future Luna.

“Yeah I’m not super hungry, I just want something light to eat.” We made our way to the Cheesecake House in the food court. He walked me over to a table and sat me down while he went and ordered our food while Lucas stood there with me waiting for him to come back.

“Here you go princess, Lucas you may go find something to eat or do whatever you want, just meet us back here in 30 minutes.” He nodded his head and walked away. Before I knew it Lucas was back and we started walking around the mall, we stopped by a few shoe stores and I picked up 3 new pairs of tennis shoes, a plain white pair, rose gold and creamy white one, and then multicolored ones. I also scored a few pairs of heels 2 for one, thank heavens for shoe sales. We walked around a little more, we went into a few department stores I grabbed me more skinny jeans and some sweat pants, a couple of sweaters and some t-shirts. While we were in our last store Xavier left me and Lucas alone, I wonder where he went?

“Lucas I need to use the restroom.” We walked to the back of the store and I caught a glimpse of a familiar face it looked like Xavier, with another woman, I quickly turned my head and walked into the bathroom. I hope he didn’t see me. After I was done with my business I walked out to wash my hands when the girl walked in there.

“I don’t even know why he’s bothering with her, she’ll never be me and never be able to please him the way I do.” I felt my cheeks burn red. I needed to get out of here. Who was this girl, and was she with Xavier? Who was she talking about on the phone.
