Chapter 16
Beau woke up.
He wanted to wake up slowly, stretch, and feel warm beneath the covers. Instead, he woke up in a hurry, bladder urgently demanding that he get the f**k up right now. Followed by that was the realization that his head had never hurt worse in his entire life, and that included waking up in the hospital. He was close enough to that pain to believe he remembered it adequately.
He moved to throw back the covers and discovered that one, he was in a bed with no memory whatsoever of getting there, and two, he was stark naked. And three, throwing back the covers was more vigorous activity than he was capable of. He flopped at the blankets a bit and managed to roll over, not quite landing with an undignified thud on the floor.
