“I’m pleased you had visitors today,” Nurse Adams said. She had her fingers around my wrist, counting my pulse.
“Four of ‘em.”
“And I see they brought you some goodies.”
“Would you like a Curly Wurly?” Fortunately, there was no sign of the McDonald’s wrappers.
“No, thank you.” She released my wrist. “Nice and steady. Nurse Philpott told me it was quite rapid this afternoon.”
“It was because of this.” I held up the copy of Discerning Gentleman.
