Chapter Eleven.

Her Fever.

A few minutes later Christy's father, Mr Carter arrived at the Brown's house, he was welcomed by Mrs Brown who informed him that her husband was in his office and she led the way to his office.

When she got to the door, she knock on the door and enter in with Mr Carter.

" Honey, Mr Carter is here." She informed her husband.

" Welcome, Mr Carter, I will take it from her, my dear." He says to his wife. While he shook hands with Mr Carter.

" Okay, honey, I will be with Antonia to see if she needs anything." She told her husband and turn to Mr Carter " Let me get you a cup of coffee before I join my daughter. She then went into the kitchen and took a teacup and pulls some coffee for Mr Carter. She puts it on a tray with sugar and cream alongside the coffee and then heads to the office. She set the coffee in front of him and made him understand that he doesn't know how he loves his coffee and that was why she came with the sugar and the cream.

" I had to bring the sugar and cream because I don't know how you like your coffee" She gave him the reason why she brought the sugar and cream. She then left to see how Antonia was taking care of Christy.

" Let me take my leave while you discuss," She said and left the room.

" Thank you for the coffee, I appreciate it, but I prefer it black" He explained to her. He took a slip of the coffee and then turn to listen to what Mr Brown called to tell him.

" I need to let you know that something happened at the prom party yesterday and that is my reason for calling you here this morning, we didn't want to get you worried that was why I didn't tell you over the phone," He told him calmly

" What happened, where are the girls, hope they are both fine?" Christy's father asked. Mr Brown became worried because he didn't know how he was going to take the matter at hand as he can see that Mr Carter was already worked up when he heard something happened at the prom party yesterday but he knew he has to know.

" I am afraid Christy was seriously wounded and as we speak she is in an unconscious state of mind due to the trauma she went through" He filled in him on what the situation was and this made Mr Carter furious and angry.

" What happened to my baby girl, where is she now and who was the ba*t*rd that hurt my child?" He says angrily as he stood to his feet.

Mr Brown had to rush to him to try to explain further to him how it all happened and the action taken already. He explained to him how Christy was rescued in the nick of time before the p*****t had his way with her and that he has been taken to the police station.

" Can I know where my child is? Mr Carter demanded.

" She is safe and in Antonia's room but in a bad state because the trauma of what happened is still taking effect on her," He told him as he led him to Antonia's room.

When they got to the door they knock on the door and when they heard a response they both entered, Christy's father couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the state that his daughter was in.

" Who is the ba*t*rd that dares to lay hi a hands on her?" he asked silently so as not to wake her up as the doctor has come over to examine her.

"I will make sure he rots in jail for the rest of his life." He spoke with his eyes filled with murderous coldness as those words came off his mouth. As he spoke Christy became aware that her father was in the room, so she called out to him

" Daddy..."

He could hear the sound of her voice making incomprehensible noise and a faint cry as he moved closer to her, he rushed to her side of the bed and stare at his daughter and for a moment he stood frozen there because he saw the bruises on his daughter's body and want at that moment to kill the ba*t*rd who did this to his daughter.

" Shh! shh! I am here, I am here Christy, daddy promises to deal with the ba*t*rd who did this to you." He says as he patted her on the head.

Christy tried to open her eyes, but she did not have the strength to do so, she only felt her head groggy and fire burning in every inch of her body. Christy's eyes were closed and her tears wet her eyes laser. She was so uncomfortable and continue to mumble incomprehensible words.

Meanwhile, the doctor was busy explaining to Mr Brown that she needs to be taken to the hospital so her broken skin can be stitched and she can be observed for 24 hours to see how she progressed keeping her in the house will not help.

" I need to take her to the hospital so I can give her wound the proper treatment as I observed that some part has been broken, there are professional nurses too who can watch her 24 hours to see how she progressed because she might have other crisis which I know you won't be able to handle. I also need to pump out the drugs from her system so she does not get into any form of trauma again because of the drugs he gave her." The doctor explains as he hopes they will understand and acts fast.

" I will let her father know so we can move her to the hospital," Mr Brown says.

He goes over to Mr Carter and told him what the doctor said and he immediately got up and then asks Antonia to help get her a dress since she was covered in a blanket on the bed.

"Tonia, my dear, please help her dress up so we can head for the hospital." He says as he turns to leave the room while the doctor and Mr Brown follow suit.

" Okay, Sir, I will get her something to wear," She say and went into her closet to see what she can get her that will not hurt her already bruised skin.

Antonia dresses Christy up and went down to inform her father that she was ready to be moved to the hospital the ambulance has already arrived to take her to the hospital. While she was getting dressed for Christy the doctor called the hospital for an ambulance to be brought over to Antonia because it patient needs to the hospital.

The paramedic went into Antonia's room as she led the way to carry Christy on a stretcher. They carried her professionally and moved her into the stretcher and took her to the waiting vehicle.

" I am coming with her," Antonia as she could not bear to be away from her in the venerable state that Christy was.

" But you have not had any sleep sweetie? Antonia's mother says that she is afraid her daughter will fall sick if she does not rest

" Mom, I can't leave Christy in this state she is in and there's plenty of time to sleep." She remains adamant.

" Honey, please talk to your daughter." She pleads with her husband to make her understand that she needs to rest as she didn't sleep much last night

" Dear, there is nothing you can tell her now that will make her change her mind, you know she cares about Christy and if you ask her to stay behind she won't be able to sleep because she will be worried sick about her." Me Brown explains to his wife. He moved closer to her and hugs her to calm her. " I will be going with them to make sure she gets a comfortable place to sleep" He promised his wife as he followed alongside Mr Carter.

They both took a different car, Mr Carter took his car while Mr Brown went in his car. Antonia has already gone with the paramedic in the ambulance.

When they arrived at the hospital they met Kingsley there, he had been informed by Antonia that Christy is been moved to the hospital so he came to show his support too. Antonia was also outside waiting for the doctor as the nurse to treat Christy and put her in a bed before anyone can come in to see her.

" Mr Carter this is Kingsley, he was the one who led the square that rescued Christy, he was the one who with the help of his connection was able to get Eric before he completely broke her" Antonia introduced Kingsley to Christy's father who was looking at him with gratitude" Kings this is Christy's father." She says to Kingsley who moved forward and shook his hand.

Mr Carter drew him closer and hugged him instead of shaking his hands and thanked him with tears in his eyes.

" Young man, I am so very grateful for your help, I wonder what would have happened if you had not taken quick action to rescue her, thank you." Mr Carter express his gratitude to him

" You are welcome but You don't have to thank me, I am only doing what a true friend should do for another friend. Christy has always been a good friend of mine and I am happy I was able to fulfil my duties as a friend." Kingsley waved it off since he feels it's a normal thing to do for a friend.

" You are a true friend indeed, I am happy she has a friend like you and Antonia who are always there for her" Christy's father expresses his appreciation for both of them. " Where is the sc*mb*g that did this to my child," He asked Kingsley.

" He is in jail as we speak, his parents tried to get him bailed but I use some influence and ensure he remains in there and his case will be taken to court next week with or without Christy's presence. All we need is the doctor's report and some photography and I would love it if we can snap it before Christy gains consciousness so it won't disturb her." He told her father all that was necessary for the case.

" You are a smart guy, I am happy w have intelligent young people like you in this world. It is nice meeting you" Mr Brown who has been quiet spoke as he was impressed with Kingsley's words.

" Thank you, sir," Kingsley says respectfully to Mr Brown.

" You are welcome chap" He responded as he shook his hands.

" I would like to see that ba*t*d, do you think you can arrange that for me? Christy's father asked him.

" There is no problem with that, we can go after we ensure that Christy has been well-taking care of," Kingsley told Mr Carter.

" Thank you." Mr Carter thanked Kingsley again.

The doctor came out while they were still talking and told them two people can enter to see her as she is sleeping and he doesn't want anyone bothering her.

Everyone stayed out while Mr Carter went in to see his daughter, on entering in he could not hold back his tear when he saw how badly injured his child was, he felt in his heart that he had not given her enough protection.

" Ho, Christy, if only you knew that I have made a mistake that can not be reversed, had I known she was going to be this bad, I would not have married again after the death of your mother." He says while sitting down beside her in the hospital with tears in his eyes. He reflected on how she has been treating her like a slave under his nose and he could not do anything to stop it.

After the delivery of Christy, his wife who was the twin sister of his present wife dead and she offer to take care of the child her sister left behind, being a single lady at that time I accepted not aware of the secret behind the offer, she was good to her and the boys initially when she first started taking care of her and I was happy but after some few years one thing led to another and we started having s*x but I never wanted to take it seriously until she told me she was pregnant and there was nothing I could do but get married to her and as if that was the ticket she was waiting for, she completely changed. She told me I should send the boys to a boarding house since she was pregnant and won't be able to give them much attention as it will be stressful for her, I agreed to her request as she has been good to the kids. When the boys left the house became a living hell for Christy as she started making do chores that were not met for a minor, she beats her when I was not around and the care she gave her was withdrawn. We usually had misunderstandings when Christy was not around so she doesn't know that she was not her biological mother as I don't want to hurt her and we both made sure that the kids don't know the difference because Eve has never visited my wife and me when she was alive. You see they are identical twins and no one can identify them but I can because of the small scare in my wife's right arm it was very hidden but I observed this, I loved my wife so much and I know how everything about her body which made it easy for Eve not to deceive me Like she as done to the others she dated before I came into her life.

I don't know why nature is making Christy go through this in life. I think I have to find a way to make life easy for her and I know just how to do it.

He stayed with her for a few minutes before leaving the room to give way to her friends to see her.

Antonia and Kingsley went in to see her when Mr Carter came out from the room, Mr Brown saw how sad he was and comforted him.

" Everything will be okay, we are going to ensure he rots in jail for this crime he committed and try to provide security for Antonia and Christy to prevent this from happening again." Mr Brown comforted Mr Carter while patting him on his back.

" I can believe that my daughter was going through this while I was at home sleeping, I have failed her." He weeps while saying this, he was referring to his late wife but Mr Brown thought he was referring to Christy.

" You didn't fail her, he was just a crime no one expected to happen. You have been a great father and that can be seen in her." Mr Brown made him know that he did a great job raising her.

" Just hope she does not have to go through this again because it will kill me" He sadly said.

Mr Brown understood his feelings and also prayed in his heart that it doesn't happen to her. daughter too.

" We will make sure of that together" He expressed.

They both sat down with their various thought while they waited for Kingsley to go with them to the police station.
