Wants And Needs

Aelys’s POV The Alpha’s Beta glared at me as he shrugged the door open. I couldn’t help but notice the look of contempt that etched itself on his face, and if it wasn’t for the annoyance that was starting to course through me, I would’ve shot him some snide remark. He jerked his chin toward the open threshold, and I forced my weight off my aching feet as I rushed in frantically. I couldn’t tell what the Alpha King would do to me, hell, I could barely stand as pain surged through me. I gritted my teeth, waiting for the next wave of agony. As soon as I made it in, the door clicked shut. My eyes did a quick scan of the room for any signs of the Alpha as my heart hammered frantically against my chest, as my insides churned. “Al…Alpha?” I called out, The room was dimly lit, the only source of light were the embers flickering in the fireplace as it roared to life. I fought back a tear as realization dawned on me that this was my mother’s room when she was alive. Sylira was doing everything she could to spite me, that much was obvious. I reminded myself that it didn’t matter, none of it mattered anymore. My gaze settled on the fur-draped bed that stood massively in the middle of the room. A bottle of whiskey sat on the table, and there he was; Kairos Vargan, lounging on the couch with his head tilted back and angled to the side. A thin line of smoke rose from the cigarette pressed between his lips, his Adam's apple bobbing as he stared at me. “Come here,” He growled, taking a long drag before he let out a small huff, lips curled back in the most seductive manner I’d ever seen. I swallowed hard, fidgeting on my feet. Did men looked this sexy when they smoked? Or was it just something Kairos was good at? “Are you going to stand there all day?” He hissed, drawling out his words. “Do you have any idea why you here?” “I agreed to come..” I groaned out, “I did not agree to whatever else it is that you plan to do me,” My eyes trailed the outline of the velvety silk robe he had on. Kairos had left the ropes undone and his pecs flexed with each drag of smoke, his skin glistened with a golden tan, freckles scattered across his chest. “Oh?” He chuckled a deep, rumbling sound, catching my gaze that tried to not settle on his exposed chest. Then he asked. “What is it that I intend to do to you?” He clicked his fingers against a crystal glass of amber liquid in his hand. The hardened mask he’d worn at dinner was still in place; crimson bleeding into his irises, his lips pursed into a grim line. “You…” I gulped like a fish out of water, my throat ached as the words stung my tongue. “You wish to bed me. But—” “—I wish to f**k you.” He tutted, “Say it. For what it is.” “What?!” I snapped, like I had no idea what he meant, when in fact, we’d said the same thing. Could’ve been the shameless way he said those words nonchalantly that annoyed me. His brow arched. “Don’t be shy now, Little Rabbit.” He taunted. “You already made it to my room. Now take your f*****g clothes off and get over here.” His words hit me like a slap while I stood frozen, fingers curled into fists at my sides as I stared at him with a scowl on my face. “No!” I half-yelled. My voice undulating with unbridled rage, shocked at my defiance. “I agreed to come to your room in an hour, not to bed you. What do you think I am? Some bloody w***e?!” A low laugh rumbled from his chest with genuine amusement that softened the firm edges of his face for the first time. The crimson in his eyes receded slightly, revealing the gray beneath. “Defiant little thing,” he murmured, lifting to his feet before throwing the cigarette stub into the ashtray. “If I wanted a w***e, I’d ask for one.” He stalked towards my direction and I faltered, taking slow steps back but he covered the space between us in two strides, pushing my back against the wall. My eyes widened, a small gasp parting my lips from the closeness of his body against mine. “Al..Alpha,” I gritted my teeth when he leaned closer to press his face into the nape of my neck, he murmured softly. “You smell so f*****g good, Rabbit. You don’t know the f*****g thoughts going through my mind.” I rolled my eyes, shrugging him off me but he grabbed my hands, almost like he could tell what I’d planned to do. Pinning them both above my head as I grunted, squirming under his hold. His brows furrowed as he reached for the collar on my neck, fiddling with it but he let out a small hiss. “Look, Alpha. I don’t know what you want from me, but I don’t deserve your attention. Just let me go! I don’t want this, I don’t want you, and I don’t even want to be here with you!” “Oh?” He tilted his head to a side, letting go of my hands almost instantly while he turned on his feet. Settling down on the couch again. “Then what is it that you want?” “Nothing that you can give me.” I let out a small wince, pressing my hand to my ribs as I felt a sharp twist in my gut. He hummed, clicking his tongue as he glanced at me. “Try me, Rabbit. I’ll be generous enough to let you have your way. This one time.” I scoffed. This one time? Bloody bastard. I hated the way he stared at me completely unbothered while I could almost feel my legs turning into jello from the sheer heat and Alpha dominance seeping off him, even when it was sure that he wasn’t even releasing them yet. “What makes you think I’d want anything from you?” “Oh, come on now. Everyone wants something. Do not tell me there’s nothing you crave or desire.” I fought an eye roll, “What do you want then? To settle for a mere maid you know nothing about?” Kairos let out a growl, reaching for the bottle of whiskey on the table and pouring a small amount into the glass cup, chugging it down in one go. “Nothing that you could give.” He said with a frigid voice. “This isn’t a matter of what I want from you, but what I need from you.” “What is it?” I gritted out, “that you need….from me?” His words struck me like silver laced arrows. I could almost hear the sheer mockery that weighed heavily on his snide remarks. He clicked his tongue. “To have you on your knees, cuffed and f****d until that pretty lips of yours is screaming my name.” He bared his canines at me as his lips curled back in a smirk. “I reckon you’d look f*****g beautiful, leashed to my bed.” “You’re insane!” I choked out a laugh, equal parts disbelief and fury at the reckless implications of the Alpha King’s words. But his head tilted back as his chest rumbled with laughter. “Does it bother you?” He asked. “I won’t mince words with you, Rabbit. I’m f*****g drawn to your scent like a moth to flame and all I can think of is being inside of you. Since the very moment you walked in.” “It’s not my fault you can’t control your desire. I didn’t ask for any of this, and I sure as hell don’t give off any such scent you speak of!” I breathed out. I could barely hide the annoyance I was starting to feel. “I don’t want you, Alpha King. You can keep your weird fantasies to yourself.” “Oh, Little Rabbit.” He muttered. “I want you. Tonight. You’re allowed to refuse me my desires but it’ll come at a price I do not think you’re willing to pay. Although I do believe getting rid of your pack will be beneficial for you in the long run. Don’t you think?”
