Chrysan’s POV
Were all still here in the room and their so-called doctraia just finished examining me. She injected different kinds of dr*gs into my body and luckily, I don’t feel any side effects. I also learned that she’s our team’s personal doctor.
“You don’t need to worry about it. She’s still processing what is currently happening, and it’s normal. She may be experiencing temporary amnesia and it’s totally normal too,” Doc Fraita smiled while saying those words, making my friends sigh in relief.
“Thanks, Doc,” Keith muttered and jokingly punched the shoulder of this middle-aged woman, Doctraia Fraitellina Alzuega.
Doc chuckled and punched Keith back on his shoulders. He groaned and tried to hold his scream while his eyes are quite teary as if that single punch affected him so much. His face started to turn red too.
“You, kids.” She sighed and sat down on one of the chairs here. “I suggest stopping what you all doing right now. I’m worried about your own health. Look at this poor young lady,” she turned her gaze on me while having sad eyes.
My eyes widened because I don’t know how should I react to this situation. Why? What happened? What kind of doing she meant?
“Thank you for the concern, Miss Ma’am. But we’ve rather live like this than trying to fit with those ewie people,” Sythel said while having a disgusted look. She’s still wearing her black overall suit― No, all of them are still wearing it.
“Sy’s right, Doc. We don’t care if we live like fugitives. As long as we're together, we’re going to be alright,” Daphne agreed while having a soft smile on her face.
Fugitives? Why would we live like fugitives? Did we do something wrong in this city or timeline we’ve been in?
“As long as no one’s being hurt, I’ll be okay,” Jairo mumbled while facing the wall. He also whispered some indistinct words as if he was casting a spell or something.
“It’s our fault why Chrysan got caught,” Xyxo said in a heavy tone. He’s looking at the floor while simply biting a taco on his hand.
“Yeah, we are the ones to blame,” Vane supported Xyxo’s sentence. He looked away and started to whistle while tapping the floor with his silver metal boots. When he noticed that all eyes in this room are on him, he looked at us one by one and raised the two of his brows?
“What?” he asked while raising his voice as if we accused him of a crime. I bit my lower lip to prevent a smile. I missed this.
Daphne chuckled and slowly shook her head. “That’s very unusual for you,” she commented.
The smile on my face slowly faded when memories of my supposed to be present life appeared. She said those exact words when I met her in the nature park. After those happy moments, a disaster came. It’s my fault. If I didn’t escape home, I should have not died.
“Chrysan? Are you… okay?” I was back on my senses when Sy called me.
They were all looking at me, worriedness on their faces.
“Huh?” I unconsciously said and touched my cheeks when I felt it was wet. “Oh.” The only words I’ve said when I realized that I was crying.
I forced a laugh and wiped my tears rolling on my cheeks. “Don’t worry, I’m o-okay.” I bit my lower lip when my voice cracked.
“Oh, darling!” Daphne exclaimed and approached me for a hug.
When her warm and gentle arms enveloped me, I can’t help myself but sob. I buried my face in her chest and cried as hard as I can. I could feel that the hug was getting warmer and warmer. Then I realized that it was a group hug. It was overwhelming. I feel like I’m floating on cloud nine.
“You don’t need to pretend, we got you,” Keith encouraged me while rubbing my back making me cry even more.
“Just cry until your tears dry, Baby Bubu Chrysy. I’ll retouch your makeup later, don’t worry.” I heard Sythel said making me chuckle a bit. I think I’m going crazy with these guys.
“You want some dumplings, Chrys? I have a lot here,” Xyxo spoke while his mouth is full of dumplings.
“It’s okay, Chrys! Always remember that after the rain, there’s a flood,” Vane joked. I bit my lower lip to hold my laughter.
“Chrysan’s not breathing!” Jairo overreacted when he saw that I’m not moving in my place.
“Shut up, Jai,” Keith muttered and threw a pillow on his face. Jairo just glared at Keith and return the pillow to its place as if it was just nothing.
I loosened up on our hug when I feel that I’m already okay. I was comforted by their heartwarming words. I’m so lucky to have them.
“You kids are really cute to watch. Though, it feels like something is missing when Reikkie’s not around,” Doc Fraita commented making the whole room silent.
I wandered my gaze to see each and everyone in this room. I bit my lower lip when I saw that there was no Rei-Rei. I’ve been here for almost four hours, yet I didn’t notice that Reikkie’s not here! Where is she?
It seems like they’ve read the expression on my face. Daphne sighed and sat on the bed. She gently caressed my hair while having a small smile on her face.
“Reikkie’s…” she didn’t continue her sentence and looked away making my forehead crease.
Did something bad happen to Reikkie?
“Reikkie’s?” I answered in question, waiting for her response.
“Reikkie’s been caught by the Dominators,” Keith’s the one who finished Daphne’s sentence.
I raised my brows while processing what he just said. Reikkie’s caught by the Dominators? Who the heck on earth was that Dominators?
“We want to say sorry to both of you, Chrysan. We are the ones who put you two in a dangerous situation. We’re sorry,” Xyxo sincerely said while looking at me directly. His goofy face was gone and all I can see was pure sincerity.
“What happened? Can someone please explain it to me? What situation? Why are we living like fugitives? Who are these Dominators? Why is Reikkie caught? And what is the freakin’ year now?!” I can’t help myself but raise my voice.
I was panting when I finished saying those words. My eyes widened when I realized what I have done.
They all looked at me with widened eyes too as if they didn’t expect me to snap. Even Doc Fraita was shocked because of what I just did. Well, me too. I wasn’t expecting that.
“Chrysan…” Sythel called my name while trying to hold back her tears.
“I’m sorry, guys. It’s just that… I felt lost. In the forest… alone,” I said in a descending voice.
Doc Fraita walked slowly towards me and gently patted my shoulders. I unconsciously closed my eyes and there I could feel the warmth embracing me. It somehow made me calm. I took a deep breath and slowly opened my eyes again. Worried expressions from my friends greeted me. Now, I could feel the guilt because of what I did. They don’t deserve to be shouted at.
“It’s the year 2037,” Doc Fraita answered, making me gasp. It’s exactly 15 years ago from the present!
“Why are you asking that?” Vane asked, curiosity in his eyes. I just shook my head and looked away from them.
How can I explain to them that I’m not supposed to be here and I’m from the present? No, wait. This is the present. I mean, it’s the future but it’s now the present since I’m here. Ugh! This is so frustrating!
“I asked you two a favor to steal one of the most sacred drugs at the main laboratory, without even thinking the risks. I’m sorry,” Xyxo spoke and bit his lower lip.
Now I get it! That’s the reason why he’s so guilty about that. I didn’t say a word and just remained silent, waiting for the next part of the story.
“We thought that it’s all going according to the plan but it’s not. My calculations went wrong,” Vane seriously muttered while clenching his fist.
“No, no! I’m the one who suggests the idea of stealing the d**g. If I just kept my mouth shut, anything should not have happened,” Keith blamed himself and punched the nearest wall on him.
I flinched when I saw the wall cracked and made a hole but what's more surprising is there's no single scratch can be seen on Keith’s knuckles. What did just happen?
“If you didn’t tell us, then what? You’re keeping it a secret?” Sythel asked in a feisty voice.
“If it’s for everyone's safety then yes!” Keith answered while his brows are furrowed.
Everyone in the room went silent because of what Keith said until Daphne broke that awkwardness, “The Dominators detected your movement and they reacted quickly. Sy’s the only one we can send as a backup since her ability is invisibility. Unfortunately, you’re the only one that Sythel saved.”
My fist clenched and I gritted my teeth. Reikkie…
“What’s up, Jairy?” Sy lazily asked when Jairo started poking her shoulder.
Jairo didn’t speak and he just raised his right arm while his eyes widened. Horror was painted on his face too. The ring on his pinky is glowing! All of them gasped and turned white as if they knew what’s the meaning of that.
“Why? What’s happening?” I confusedly asked as my forehead creased. Is there something wrong? Almost all of them were terrified.
“Reikkie’s in danger!” Jairo blurted out and didn’t hesitate to leave the room hurriedly as if his daughter was in danger.
I didn’t have a second thought and pulled all of the needles out of my skin. I whimpered and tears fell in the corner of my eyes but I didn't dwell on it anymore. I ran towards the door where Jairo exited as blood from the back of my hand started dripping on the floor. They were all calling my name, and saying that I’m not fully healed from my injuries.
My injuries don’t matter at this point.
I’m going the save Reikkie.
