"Would you mind telling me, young lady, what's with this sudden plan?" Hugo immediately asked as soon as we left the house.
"I told you, you don't need to come if you don't want to," I answered as I gripped the strap of my bag tighter.
"I didn't say I don't want to. I just asked why," he responded.
I stopped walking and looked at him while biting my lower lip and started walking backward, making his eyes widen.
"Be careful, you might trip," he worriedly said and sped up his pace to catch up with me.
