Chapter 5: Lunar Eclipse

1438 Words
Chrysan’s POV I only have two hours before my meds. They're not ordinary dr*gs that you could buy in drugstores. They're different... I’m so sick of taking that kind of medication. I’ll be laying on that binding bed while my arms and legs are both tied. Some fluids are injected into my vein, making me dizzy for almost a week or sometimes a month. I wanted to scream but I can't. They will just ended up torturing me. I can’t understand. Why are they doing this? Am I a guinea pig or some sort of test subject? Why would a so-called professor in a prestigious university do that kind of bullshit in his kid? I slowly walked towards the steel door of my room and tried to turn the doorknob. But as expected, it’s lock. Aside from the key that Dad’s the only one who knew where it was located, they all also put a security number on it. They’re just paranoid that I will abandon them and spread their nasty little secrets, From where I’m standing right now, I unconsciously looked behind me. There I saw the beauty of the full moon, shining directly at me as if it’s giving me its brightest smile of all time. I can’t help but be amazed. I walked towards the window and slowly parted the curtains to see more of the beauty of the moon. Without thinking, I looked below to see what is the distance from my room to the ground. Our house is a three-story building and my father owns it. I’m not rich. They’re rich. I gulped when I saw I’m almost 50 meters from the ground. Securities are roaming everywhere as if they're protecting something valuable. A plan suddenly came up in my mind. I opened my closet and turned my clothes over and over to find what I’m searching for. At the same time, I looked every time at the door, wishing I will not be caught because of what I’m doing right now. I’m tired of taking their so-called medication that only brings me pain. I know I have the voice inside me but I'm just scared. Now, I will take the courage to escape from this undercover prison. I sighed in relief when I find what I need. I took my blankets and tied it at the end of my almost 35 meters rope and tied it securely on the front leg of my bed. For the last time, I looked at the door and smirked before I throw the rope with my blankets. When I secured that it’s already set, I didn’t hesitate to climb down the tall building. I even saw Mom and Dad through the windows I’ve passed by. My heart was full of relief when my foot finally touched the ground. My eyes widened when I heard someone having a conversation not from afar, approaching my position. I looked from my left to right before deciding to hide at the back of the tree. Their conversation caught my attention when they mentioned my name. “I heard that young lady Chrysanthemum’s body finally accepted the Tithonosious dr*g?” a man, eating a pizza asked. The other man shrugged his shoulders and take a bite from his pizza before answering his comrade, “I don’t know. Mice died because of master Adrian’s experiments.” My forehead creased because of what he said. Experiments? What experiments? And that mouse thingy again, I heard it earlier from mom. If my hypothesis is right… Dad’s not a professor but a… scientist? I shook my head because of my thoughts. No, that’s impossible! But come to think of it, why do we have a binding bed in our house? Why beakers are all over the house? Why does my dad have a lab coat? Why does Dad have a cage full of his pet mice? It all makes sense! I tried my best to hide my presence and breathe in and out to calm myself as I started walking slowly towards the back gate. I grabbed some pebbles and started throwing it in different directions to distract the security guards that’s been guiding the gate where am I supposed to exit. When most of the guards are gone, I didn’t waste the chance to rush towards the exit. My eyes widened when different kinds of vehicles greeted me as if I’m in a different dimension right now, it’s the opposite of the front door. I wandered my gaze to explore more. High buildings and street lights are everywhere. It’s totally the opposite! I stand near the road and reach my hand out, hoping that I can call some taxi. I don’t have any money to begin with. Thirty minutes passed but there’s no one willing to give me a ride. I sighed heavily and my shoulders fell because of what I feel right now. It’s my choice, I need to resolve this. I sighed once again and reach my hand out one more time. A miracle happened when a car stopped in front of me. I bit my lower lip to prevent myself from smiling. I didn’t waste any second and get in the yellow cab. “M-May I ask? Where are we?” I stuttered and wandered my eyes again as soon as the car started moving. “We’re in United States of America, Miss.” I gasped because of what the driver answered. So, that means… Our house is on the boundary of Canada and America?! I didn’t bother to answer and remained silent as realizations started to linger in my system. Our ride went smoothly. Instantly, my eyes widened when a sudden blinding light enveloped us coming directly in front of the car. The only thing I knew, the car I’ve been in was turning upside down in the mid-air and my chest was tightening as if someone was squeezing it. The car landed on the pavement, my forehead hit the glass window and I felt the blood gushing from it. My vision’s starting to get blurry and my lungs are about to burst, gasping for air. I held my chest and tried my best to ease the pain I’m feeling. I heard the chitchat’s of people and the sound of the siren getting louder and louder. I opened my mouth to catch some air. Is this the end of me? I know I want to die but at the same time, I don’t want to. I can’t die! I didn’t experience yet being treated the way I want to be treated! I closed my eyes to regain my strength but promply, I opened them when I heard someone banging the door beside me. The car’s been flipped upside down. The blood was rushing on my head right now and I could feel that any minute from now, I’ll be dead. I tried my best to look at the opened door on my right side, a blurry face of a guy greeted me. I heard him curse and grabbed me in my arms as he pulled me outside. Tons of flashing lights were there right before my eyes. There’s red, blue and yellow. I couldn’t see clearly anymore. “T-The driv…er,” I whispered but seems that the guys didn’t hear it. I could see the pearls of sweat rolling his forehead as he took a vial from his pants and injected a syringe into it. After that, he looked at me, but I couldn’t see his face. My vision’s blurry plus the tears I’ve shed as the car turned on the air a while ago. “Chrysan!” he called me but it’s not clear on my hearing. He said something but I couldn’t hear it! I can’t help but cry as he injected the syringe into my wrist. The throbbing in my chest worsen. I feel like my heart’s going to rip any minute from now. I screamed as loudly as I could when I couldn’t bear it anymore. I can’t get enough oxygen and my breathing’s getting shorter. Suddenly, the surrounding became dark. I heard the people here panic. Before I closed my eyes, I get sight of the bright moon earlier. It's been covered! An eclipse is happening! The pain in my chest won’t stop and I feel the blood inside me rapidly flowing as if something was triggered. I screamed for the last time my chest’s being squeezed and my brain’s about to explode. Before I blacked out, I heard the man in front of me whisper, “I’ll wait for you… in the future.”
