Timing

Melissa's POV Who was in those woods!? What newcomer was in the woods and saw that!? How long was that person even there for? How did I not know about this!? What did that even see!? Were they following me? Is Mark onto me? Was he suspecting it? 'Calm down Mel! If it was a newcomer, then it was the one that we already know' Gloria growls. 'Besides, I have been in touch with Timber and he agrees to keep this up. Soon he will be the leader of this pack, but you have to calm down.' Gloria was right! I need to think things through and very carefully. If I ever want my love Gray to take the throne, then I have to be very careful in how I handle this so-called 'newcomer'. 'So what do I do? Just sit here and rule out one of the 5 newcomers that just joined the pack?' 'You could, or you could just sit and let Mark's pack eat our pack alive!' growls Gloria. She was right again, but they wouldn't be able to track any scent in the woods to our pack that is 100 miles away. It's been raining for weeks and it washed away any scent and any tracks those two idiots left. Goddess Jenny and Tim were pathetic. They never listen to keeping a low profile outside of the boundaries. It hurt to see them get killed, but I know Gray's Beta Ron won't be happy his sister was killed because of her mate who couldn't listen. 'I'm so glad you could talk to Timber. I am 100 miles away and can't even mind-link Gray.' I was furious. I have to leave here once a week to go through the waking tree path just to sneak out, since that area wasn't being patrolled. Now it's going to be all because of that newcomer. This is all their fault. Melissa was pacing back and back and forth in her office at the pack house. Her Luna ceremony was in two months and she has to plan the proper ceremony. All the Alphas of the kingdom will be there, including the royal court. Even Gray of Dawn Break was going to be there. I still can't believe that they think those idiots were rouges. At least they didn't interrogate them any further and realized Dawn Break was at their walls. Melissa was lost in thought as the door flung open. Alpha Mark walked in, and he looks like he was lost in thought. "Honey, did something happen?" Did they unmask the scent of where Jenny and Ron came from? "No dear. Nothing happened, with all the rain that happened, we have no clue about where those two rouges came from. We burned their bodies at the boundary line where they entered. More patrols will be set up and circulating that area." He sighed, "We have to postpone the Luna Ceremony for a bit longer. Just to make sure that this won't happen again." Mark let out the biggest sigh, something was up. "Oh no! That's terrible!" I was not happy with this. Again, no one in Dawn Break would give me a damn month to get things right. I always have to pick up the pieces and the mess that they bring. Gray has warned them to not attempt to come over here to check on me unannounced. It is a death sentence. "Well, I would like to thank the newcomer who saved my life. Do you know who it is?" 'Smart move' Gloria purred 'We can destroy them if we can get a name!' "I do not know," Mark huffed, "but I would like to hold a small test for all the newcomers. Kind of like a pack initiation for all of them." 'Why? Is there something that we don't know about? What is he planning?' Gloria was growling at this news. "Why sweetheart?" I wanted to throw up in my mouth at the sound of me being so nice, of me being in the same bed. I want to be in the arms of Gray so much. I just want him to be king and not this lame excuse of a wolf. "To get an accurate reading of them, of course, and so see where they stand in my pack," Mark exclaimed as he laid on the couch. Something is off about him. He seems worn out. "Okay, do you want my help with that?" I sat next to him and caressed his skin. "No dear, just go to your appointment with Dr. Starr. She will help figure out why you aren't in heat." He sighed. I know why, I know damn well. I take wolfsbane to stop me from going into heat. It makes me numb and weak and I pass out, but I cannot bring the thought of me having his pup without having a pup from Gray. "Yes dear. I will go and see her. I love you," I threw up in my mouth a bit and walked away. I can't kiss him. Not since I just took the wolfsbane and now he scheduled me with this so-called Doctor. What gives? Why does he want an heir before the Luna Ceremony anyway? 'Because most Alphas need to make sure you will bring in an heir to the throne before they can mark you and claim you as a their Luna. Idiot.' Gloria grumbled 'Just tell the doctor that you don't want to have kids right away. You should have been straight forward with Mark in the beginning. But here we are. Not listening to me. Again.' I sighed at Gloria. She doesn't understand the amount of pressure I am under with everything. How could I possibly tell Mark that I didn't want to have kids right away, when he expected to announce a pup at the Luna Ceremony? I'd go barren and this whole thing would go up in flames. I walked down the hall to the pack house doctor. She is setting up the exam room and she looks absolutely stunning. "Hello, I am Dr. Starr Clawhorn. You must be the soon-to-be Luna Melissa Barr. Very nice to meet you. Please, have a seat and we can discuss a few things." How did she even know my last name? If no one knows my true last name, not even Mark! Where did she come from? What Pack is she from again? I know Mark told me, but I was too busy with what colors I wanted for the Luna Ceremony to even care. "Oh, okay. How did you know my last name?" I whimpered. I told everyone it was Storm, not Barr. "That is part of my vast knowledge of things as a healer." Dr. Star Clawhorn turned and I was greeted with deep violet eyes, and her hair was a fire red. She's a healer and a doctor? Oh, this is bad. She is among the gifted. "You're also a healer?" I was too stunned. I was on her exam table and ready to leave. I don't want her to touch me. She will know everything about me. Healers are powerfully gifted and they don't compare to any doctor at all. What's worse, she is both. She has the healer gift, and a medical degree. She would have been swooped up for sure by my pack if she wasn't in medical school. "Don't worry sweet heart, I will ask a few questions before we begin." Dr. Starr re-assured me in a soothing voice. I just wanted to melt and poor my soul out to her. I hate healers. They make us tell the truth and are always the worst. Mark's POV 'This is the worst timing! We need to cut ties with Melissa and make Kayla our Luna! She is the chosen one!' Shade was bouncing around in my head and yelling at me. 'We know nothing about her at all. You saw how she ran out on us the first time. She darted when she found out I chose a mate!' I was rubbing my temples to my head. I don't have a headache, but the council is not going to like the fact that I am backing out of the chosen mate. This is a mess. 'Did you smell her?' Shade made the words sound like he was salivating. 'Who Melissa?' I was so confused. 'Our MATE!' Shade grumbled, 'She went into heat.' My eyes widened. She was in heat? I f****d my mate, and she was in heat? She is also the daughter of a healer. If the healer touches her daughter, what will happen to my pup? 'Don't think like that! It makes more sense to just make Kayla, our fated mate, our true Luna. DO THAT!' Shade growled the words at me. There really isn't anything stopping me from canceling the Luna Ceremony. I do have to get the approval from the royal council because they are the ones who warned me this might happen. I really don't know anything about my mate. She is a newcomer and she isn't in the pack yet. I can't just go to them, say that I found my fated mate and now she is the official Luna. They would kill me for making an outsider my Luna. 'So, make her part of the pack. Isn't that why you are having her here in an hour?' Shade more so told me what to do instead of asking a question. 'I am, it's going to ruin the initiation I am doing for the newcomers.' I sighed and shook my head. I got up off the couch and moved towards my desk with all the newcomer files. I sifted through each one and came across the name Clawhorn, Kayla. I grabbed the file and started to open it. I had to know who I was dealing with. I opened her file and see a picture of her. She is stunning, with her long brown hair, her royal violet eyes, her lucious lips and a face shaped like a stong wolf. She is a true wolf, a true lycan. Most of my wolves are werewolves. They are smaller than us and just as fast, but not as strong. Her file even says lycan blood, so that is why her wolf looked a bit bigger. Her file also states that she would do scout work and was damn good at it. Well, if they figured out that she could be used as a spy more than a scout. She was top of her class in conmbat and in elite warrior traning. 'Our mate is strong, fierece, swift, and intelligent.' Shade's voice was lusting over our mate 'look, her wolf's name. Shadow. Shadow and Shade. Has a ring to it.' Just as I am closing her file there was a knock on the door. "Alpha, you requested to see me?" Our mate's voice was soft and low. She had a directness to it. I liked it. "Yes, please do come in" I was smooth with my words, matching her directness as well. Once she opened the door, I smelled her heat instantly. I knew I had to make her a member of my pack now. 'I want more' Shade was salvating. She was approaching closer and I was hit with her scent again. Autumn and apples. Oh how delicious the scent was. I am just thinking about grabing her and bending her over this table and taking her in. Her scent would be everywhere in here. I noticed she was getting flushed in her face and her smell was intensifiying with every step. I got up and moved infront of her. I grabbed the chalice from my cabniet, and the ceremony blade. I made a slice in my hand and placed a few dropps of blood in it. I turned toward her and held it out in front of her. "Do you accept being a member of my pack. The Bloodmoon Pack." She looked at me with eyes wide, "I accept". She grabbed the cup and drank my blood. She then grabbed the knife and opened her palm up and held it to me. "Will you accept me as part of your pack. The Bloodmoon Pack." I grabed her hand in mine, "I accept." I didnt wait for her blood to hit the chalice, I went straight for her hand and licked her blood. I also healed her wounds in the process. That is when it hit me. Her emotions, her thoughts, all of it. It was so pleasing. I started to carress her skin with my lips all the way up to her arm. I grabbed her waist and pulled her deeper into me. Carressing her neck with each stroke of my lips, moving my fingers around her wetness. Making her gasp for air everytime I stroked her. She was wearing her leggings that I pulled down to the floor and I moved her on top of me. I un zipped my pants and entered her with such force. She moaned in pleasure. She was so tight and warm and wet. So very wet. Mine. All mine. I ended up kissing the spot where I would mark my mate. My mate. Mine. The thought of her being mine was intense. The bliss of her touch on me was all I want. All I crave. I bent her over the couch and she bit into the pillow as I was thrusting. Each time she moaned in pleasure. I flipped her over to have her look at me. I was about to explode. With out thinking, no hesitation, I bit into her, marking her as I was finishing. She did the same. I was done and the smell of her heat was over. "Alpha..." She was breathing heavily. I moved off of her "Mine." Is all I can say to her as I touched her face gently. 'We may have a pup now!' Shade proclaimed tiumphantly. All I could do now was kiss her gently. Her lips tasted like apples. Her skin was so soft and smooth. I just held her in my arms after. "I am not letting you go." I just held her there. She started to drift off to sleep and we just stayed like that for some time. After a while a knock was at our door. She sprang up so fast and put her clothes on. I did the same. She covered her mark up and I had to do the same. We cannot let anyone know what I just did, what we just did. "Alpha, may I come in?" It was Dr. Starr. "Yes, you may enter." I gave Kayla one look and she sat down. 'She is going to find out. She will always find out' Kayla mind-linked me. 'I can order her not to tell, if you wish' I mind-linked back. 'She would not tell anyone. She would never do that. She will just, know.' Kayla mind-linked and it was at this point that Kayla was not aware of how gifted her mother truly was. She was unaware that her mother is a skilled healer. "Alpha, about the -" Dr. Starr looked up and noticed her daughter sitting in the chair. "Oh." She was surprised, but then something registered across her face. You can see her surprise register across her face and then she went back to being professional. It was a quick moment. "I am sorry Alpha, I had no idea you had company. Please forgive me." "It's alright Dr. Starr. Please continue, you were going to say something?" I had a grin from ear to ear. I can tell she wanted to speak about Melissa. "I can leave for a moment so you two can talk" Kayla stood up and went right back into the chair. I felt a wave a neausea come over me and I rushed to her side and held her hand. "Kayla, everything okay?" Dr. Starr came to her side and put her hand on hers and that is when she looked up at me "I am sorry Alpha, do you mind if I take Kayla home, I will be back to talk to you about the report you wanted." 'She knows something is wrong' Kayla mind-linked me. "Dr. Starr. Please evaluate her here" I didn't realize I was a little to rough with her. I couldn't be. "Alpha, I don't believe this would be an appropriate setting to evalutae her here" Starr said in a calm tone not taking her eyes off of her daughter. "It's okay mom. If the Alpha wants me to be evaluated in front of him. Then you should" Kayla looked at her mom, her voice was short and understanding. "Understood" Dr. Starr was helping Kayla up from the chair and over to the couch. She had her bag with her to do a small check up. She had Kayla remove her jacket and that is when her mark was showing. It was fresh. Dr. Starr examined the mark and had Kayla lay down on the couch to examin other parts of her body. Her hands moving all over the place and landing on her hips. Just below her naval. "I will give you a perscription to take once a day every day" she said as she wrote down something on a notepad to hand to Kayla. 'Prenatals!?' Kayla mind-linked me in shock. "You need to take it in the morning when you get up. It will help with the neausea" Dr. Starr was being short with her daughter to keep her privacy. "Is she fit to be in the initiation process for our newcomers?" I asked her. My voice had a concerning tone to it. "I would advise against that for the next three weeks. No strenuous activities. I would like to see you next week for a follow up visit" Dr. Starr never took her eyes off her daughter. I heard disappointment in her voice. "She needs to go home and rest for now." "If that is what needs to be done. Then consider it done. I will have Beta Clark escort Kayla home" I said a bit to happy "Incase Kayla needs help." "I will be fine walking on my own" Kayla stood up slowly this time "thank you for your consern. Alpha." She clipped the last sentence a bit to short. Some hatred? 'She knows nothing of us. She has our pup in her! She can't go home! She needs to be under gaurd at all times!' Shade was anxious and cannot stay still 'Beta Clark, Beta Aaron. Please come to my office' I mind-link both of them, and within seconds they where there. "Beta Clark, can you see to it that both Dr. Starr and Kayla arrive to their house fine. Kayla is not feeling the best." I looked at Clark who just gave me a glance and nodded. She helped Kayla up and then helped them out the door. "Something smells, off." Aaron looked at me and said when the door closed behind them. He has been my friend for years. He knows me all to well. "Thats because something is. We have something to talk about" I sighed and just slummed into my chair, "I'm impulsive and can't think things through." Aarons eyes widened "What are you talking about?" "My mate." I sighed and thinking of Kayla. I cannot keep my mind off of her. "Mate? You mean Melissa? What happened?" Aaron sat in the chair that was infront of my desk. "Not Melissa" I grinned "My MATE" I proclaimed all to excitedly. "WHO!?" Aaron was getting anxious. "Kayla. The not-so-new-newcomer." I tapped my mark. "You did not." Aaron's eyes widened in shock. "What will the councile think!?" "They are going to have to accept Kayla as the true Luna now. There is no hiding it. Next week will be official." I said as I swirled the chair around to look out the window. "What about the initiation?" Aaron stood up. "That will be in with the Luna Ceremony. Two birds, one stone." I swirled back to look at him. "Did she even accept this new fate? She litterally moved here a few months ago! What about Melissa? What will happen to her?" Aaron was getting a bit to anxious and I gave him a look and he sat right back down. "Well, I will take care of Melissa and the council. I will give them a call tomorrow. They wont be able to come anytime soon becuse they are away to another kingdom at this time. It will take two weeks to even get here." I sighed and stood up. I started pacing back and forth. "Why the sudden rush for Luna? We just where attacked at our borders not even a few moments ago. Shouldn't we hold off?" Aaron was curious as to where my train of thought was going. "This attack has been going on for a few months now. I'm not entirely sure why, but I will get to the bottom of it. This is the first death we have had from these rouges, but a part of me thinks these aren't any rouges." I couldn't sit still. I can feel my thoughts coming out in sentences. "True, and then there is the discussion we need to have about whoever was at the border. Could they be in on it?" Aaron shook his head. "No. They where not in on it. She just arrived to our pack. Besides, she was there" I said as I looked up I see the door open and Melissa walked in. Her eyes where bloodshot, like she has been crying. 'What does she want?' Shade growled. "Can we talk?" She was holding back the trembling in her voice. "Yes." I looked over at Aaron "We will discuss this matter tomorrow morning." 'Meet at the Willow Wisp Well' I mind-linked Aaron. "As you wish Alpha" Aaron bowed his head to me and walked past Melissa and stopped and bowed at her. Slight disrespect, but I understood. She isn't the Luna. Kayla is. 'This girl I am walking home is the true Luna!?' I heard Clark mind-link me 'Does she even know!?' 'Keep it from anyone. I haven't had a chance to fully talk to Kayla. I'm about to discuss matters with Melissa now.' I mind-linked clark back and ended the connection. I had no time to talk to Kayla about it. I don't even know if she wanted this. "I wont be able to bare your children for some time" Melissa sobbed "Dr. Starr said she can help, but it will need to take some time." Melissa walked over to me and threw herself on me. Trying to get me to touch her. I was disgusted. I did not want any part of this woman touching me at all. Instead all I can come out "What do you mean? Time?" "I don't know, months, a year?" Melissa sobbed "But that shouldn't stop us form trying! Your mark could help speed things along" I couldn't bare the thought of her anymore. "No. That is not acceptable." I shook my head. "There is to many variables. To many 'ifs' and I can't base an heir of off 'ifs'. I thought -" and that is when I smelt it. Wolfsbane. There is a small hint of it. I never noticed it before. But it is a bit stronger. She never wanted to have kids. I knew there was something, but I am not going to let her know that I think she is doing it on purpose. "I thought long and hard on this matter. You will not be Luna." She blinked hard. Then anger flashed in her eyes. "What do you mean? Not be Luna?" Jealousy. Rage. I can see her take a sniff and look around the room. "You said nothing of me not being Luna if I can't produce an heir." her voice was clipping each word in anger. 'I talked to Shadow, Kayla's scent was masked when she was close to the pack house. Shadow masked it.' Shade sighed in relief. That made me feel a thousand times better. "Melissa, that is entailed in being a Luna. To produce an heir. If you can't do that naturally, then you can't be Luna. It is even stated by the royal court." "I can! It's just going to take time!" She shouted the words. Anger filled her now. "I can't do time" I shook my head. "You are not going to be Luna. You are dismissed." I turned my back to her so I can sit at my desk. I heard the door slam and she walked off. I need to contact the council now before she does. I picked up the phone and started rining the council members. They need to know what just happened.
