The sky above was a deep indigo, the last silver of sunlight sinking beneath the horizon and giving way to the twinkling city lights. Erica tightened her grip on the steering wheel, her fingers brushing against the worn leather as she navigated through the chaotic evening streets. She had a frown on her face as she swerved to the left, dodging a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. “Watch where you are going, ma'am”, the person from the other vehicle shouted, but Erica showed the man her middle finger in response. The night was partially dark, and the streetlights were beginning to come alive, their glow casting across the busking sidewalks where throngs of people moved with purpose.
