The urgent howls broke through my restless sleep, startling me awake with a rush of energy. I jumped up and ran out the door before I even understood what was going on, my heart beating fast as I hurried towards the noise. I found Xander in the main room of the pack house, his face serious as he held a piece of paper. Seeing it made me feel cold inside – I knew for sure that this was the moment we had been afraid of. “What is it?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
