Chase POV

The girls came back to meet me after they searched for supplies. Alexis had packed two coolers full of food and drinks along with two bags of other foods. Rhae had come back with a bag all packed with clothes for Lily, all we needed now was to pack everything in one of the suvs and head back to Alexis's house. The suv we picked seemed to have enough room for everything. The three of us climbed in and I drove us back to Alexis's house.

"Chase, happy birthday." Alexis said

"Thanks. You know it's weird I haven't once thought about my birthday today." I replied while pulling up to her house.

"Yeah, I imagine that's how we will feel next week when it's our birthday." Rhae said

We pulled everything out of the suv and walked back into the house. Mr. and Mrs. Harris had already cleaned up and was making breakfast for everyone. Lily was sitting in front of the television watching a Disney movie. The girls brought the coolers and bags of food into the kitchen while I took the bag I had to the bathroom. Rhae had grabbed Lily's attention by showing her all the clothes she found for her.

I walked into the bathroom and set the bag down. I really could use a shower I was covered in mud and dirt. I'm sure Alexis probably thought I smelled horrible. I know I thought I did. I started the shower and got undressed putting my clothes to the side. We could wash what we had while we were here and take those as well. After the shower ran for a bit to warm up I finally climbed underneath the water. It felt really good, the hot water relaxing all my sore muscles and rinsing off some of the dirt.

"You were really dirty, I hope Alexis can see past all the grim you had on you. You were really starting to smell." Carson snickered

"Jeez, thanks buddy. I'm already nervous as it is when it comes to her. Why do you need to make it worse?" I asked my wolf

Of course he goes silent. I will finally be able to shift tonight and couldn't wait to run as my wolf. I'm also hoping that with the shift we'll know if Alexis is really our mate. I finished in the shower and turned off the water, I dried myself off and pulled out a pair of shorts and a t-shirt to wear. I needed something simple I could take off before I shifted. I gathered up my stuff and walked back to the living room.

"Chase, come sit and eat. We have so much to eat right now so fill your belly. Then we can talk more about what we're going to do next." Mr. Harris said.

"I'm starving, thank you. Alexis thank you for allowing us to eat and freshen up at your place. I really appreciate it." I told her

"It's the least I could do. You have offered Rhae and I protection. I don't think it would be wise for any of us to go separate ways." Alexis said.

"So Chase, how do you want to celebrate your birthday? I know it won't be much but we can do anything you want." Mrs. Harris asked me

"I honestly haven't thought much about it. I mainly want to get through my shift. We haven't talked much about what our next plans are."

"Well I think we will get through it all as long as we work together. I do think we need to sit down and discuss things, but before we do I want to freshen up and celebrate Chase's birthday." Alexis responded.

"I agree with Alexis. We can talk about everything tomorrow. Let's just have a little fun today." Rhae said

After we all ate the girls went to freshen up and Mrs. Harris took Lily to freshen up as well. Once everyone had finished we gathered in the living room and watched movies for the rest of the day. Alexis sat beside me, being near to her kept me calm and I felt so much comfort. I was starting to feel tingles whenever we touched. Every once in awhile I would look at her and catch her looking at me. She would start to blush and turn away. I couldn't help but smile every time that happened, I thought it was really cute. I couldn't help all the feelings that I was starting to feel toward Alexis. If she isn't my mate I think I would still like her to be. With the loss of so many packs it was hard to tell if my mate was anywhere else, but beside me. Carson really believed she was, the way she smelled to us and the feeling of tingles when we touch, it was the only explanation.

After a couple hours of watching movies Alexis got up and went upstairs. I was worried about her so I followed her to her room. She had left her door open and I gently knocked on it so I didn't startle her. She turned to look at me and gave me a small smile.

"I miss them already you know. My parents were everything to me. It has been so strange to be here and not see them walk through the door. I want to have hope that they were able to get away, but deep down I know they are gone for good." Alexis confessed

"I know what you mean. I miss my parents too. I wish I could take all the pain away, but I believe we will be stronger because of this. I also think we will all be stronger together. I'm very happy to have met the Harris family, Rhae, and you. I'm glad you have Rhae still, you need each other." I told her

"I can only imagine how hard this all is for you today. Not having your family around for your birthday."

"It is, but I've also realized that being with all of you is family enough for me." I confessed to her.

"If there is a chance at all that we're safe for a bit, I would like to stay here at least until after Rhae and I shift. I know it may come to us having to leave before that, but I would feel alright doing either as long as we're all together."

"I like that idea. Tomorrow after breakfast we can all sit down and discuss what we all want to do." I told her

"Come on let's get back downstairs before everyone starts to worry about us. We should probably get some food in you before it's time for your shift." She said giggling

I followed her back downstairs and while the three women were in the kitchen making food Mr. Harris, Lily, and I sat in the living room watching another Disney princess movie. Once the food was done we sat and ate. Mrs. Harris made a birthday cake for me and everyone sang happy birthday. I blew out the candles for Lily, she wanted me to make a wish. The food and cake was incredible and I was completely full. Lily had climbed in my lap and had already fallen asleep. Alexis showed me to her parents room so that I could lay Lily down to comfortably sleep. Alexis told Mrs. Harris that they could use her parents room to sleep in, she showed me a spare room that I could use, and Rhae and her would use her room.

The hours seemed to pass by fast and in no time it was time for me to get ready to shift for my first time. Mr. Harris told me he would be with me to support for me during my shift. I appreciated his offer we all know the first shift is painful. We decided I would shift behind the house and then run around the pack ground instead of the woods. We were not sure if the rogues were gone completely or if they would return.

Mr. Harris and I walked out the back door where I stepped out of my clothes and laid them to the side. My bones started to break and I fell to the ground. Mr. Harris was encouraging my shift and helping me work through the pain. Once my bones stopped breaking Carson had taken complete control. I could tell we were a big wolf do to our Alpha blood. Carson stretched his legs and took a look around. He moved around the other side of the house and before he could take off running Alexis walked out the front door. Carson paused after looking at her and spoke to me.

"Mate is beautiful."
