CHAPTER THIRTEEN “Are you okay?” Jason asked Elizabeth who had her eyes squeezed so shut he was sure she would get an headache. “I’m fine, I am really motion sick and the fact that I am going to some strange place is not helping matters.” She said, her eyes still shut. “You can hold my hand if that would make you feel better.” He offered. Hold his hand, how would that make her feel better? Elizabeth thought to herself. “No, thank you… just keep your hands on the steering and eyes on the road please.” Jason suppressed laughter at her scrunched up face and his eyes moved involuntarily to her lips; full lips so succulent and as if on cue, her tongue snaked out to lick them. He suppressed a groan this time, wondering if she knew how being in close proximity with her was making his body react, he was sure she would bolt like a deer caught in the headlights she even had an inkling of what he was thinking of. “You should at least leave your eyes open, it is weird seeing your eyes closed.” He said after some minutes. Elizabeth opened her eyes and blinked rapidly before turning to him. “I leave them closed because I am trying so hard to regulate my breathing so I don’t throw up.” “Is it always like that for you every time you get into a car?” He asked. “Unfortunately, yes it is and I have gotten into a lot of cars. I just cannot help that wave of nausea, it really doesn’t get better as I get older.” “Hmmm, does that mean you haven’t flown before because trust me, that is way worse.” “Well then, cheers to never flying.” Elizabeth groaned. Jason laughed and turned to fully focus on the road… weird girl. Part of the reason Elizabeth had kept her eyes closed was because she did not want to be caught again staring at him. How one male could be so gorgeous she could not understand and she cursed her body for the attraction it felt towards him. He was way out of her league and even if he considered her different, that was because he was used to tall, blond stick figure models and she wasn’t any of that. She could hardly believe she was going to be living with him in the same house, seeing him shirtless and things like that. It was bad enough being in the same car and space with him even for a short period of time but having to see him everyday for a year was going to take all of her willpower. “Tell me Elizabeth, who exactly was the guy that was harassing you earlier today.” “My boss’ son, Thomas. He is an incredible asshole and apparently he heard I was leaving for good.” “What did he want?” Jason asked flexing his fingers, they had tightened on the steering wheel of their own accord, he refused to believe it was because of what Elizabeth had said. “Well, he claims he has a thing for me and wants us to date. Mind you, I have told him times without number in no uncertain terms that I would not date him I feel absolutely nothing of that sort towards him. He called me a w***e…” she said, her voice trailing off. “I should have broken his fingers, punching him in the stomach was mercy.” Jason growled. Elizabeth’s toes curled, he was going on the defensive because of her. “Why are you smiling?” He asked “You should see your face, you look like you want to murder him right now.” Elizabeth said, laugher in her voice. “Maybe I want to” Had someone turned off the AC because it was sure felt hot in here, Serena thought resisting the urge to fan her face. Damn, she was blushing and he could see it. “You should blush more often, you do it so beautifully.” Jason muttered, raising a hand to brush the hair off the side of her face. “Keep your eyes on the road.” Elizabeth murmured, her eyes fixed on his. He was staring at her lips, Elizabeth thought fleetingly before he turned, the moment gone. The temperature in the car was cold as they drove silently. “We are here” he said finally. Elizabeth looked out for the window, they were indeed at his house, the very one she had wished to live in. She climbed out and went to the back to get her things. “Leave them, Agatha will get them for you later. Come with me.” He said She followed him inside, already almost familiar with the house. “You are back and I see you have brought the girl.” A voice said interrupting Elizabeth’s eye- roaming. She turned and came face to face with Lucien, the one she had always had a crush on, the breath rushed out of her lungs in form of a gasp. He was staring at her too, recognition and surprise forming in his eyes. “I know you.” He said finally with Jason watching them both, unsure of what was happening. “You are the girl that refused to give me her number.” He said, his voice laced with accusations. “And you are the one that ruined my perfectly beautiful dress.” Elizabeth shot back. “What is she doing here?” Lucien asked, turning to his brother. “I’m glad you asked” Jason said sarcastically and when he could see that Lucien was still waiting for an explanation, he rolled his eyes “Lucien, this is Elizabeth; my surrogate.” Elizabeth’s mind was running wild with worry, Why was he here? She asked herself. “Elizabeth, this is my brother and he would be staying with us for a while.” Oh no! Elizabeth managed under her breath.
