My hand touched the doorknob, about to push the locker room door open, when I heard my name from inside. I paused, straining to hear.
It wasn’t unusual. My name had been on everyone’s lips since I joined two years ago, first because my university advisor had recommended me directly to the CEO, and then because of my aloofness. I was bound to be discussed in rooms where I’d never even interacted with the people, so I’d learned not to let them get under my skin.
