The rest of the week has been going by so slowly. Finally arriving home, I notice Kaylee looking at me strangely.
“Hey mom, is it ok for me to go to Bree’s place for a sleepover tonight? Please?” She asks, her eyes fidgeting just as much as her feet.
Why is she nervous asking me this? She’s always at Bree’s place.
“Sure honey. Are you ok? You have this weird look on your face. Anything happened at school?” I ask, concerned.
“NO mom, everything fine. I’ll get my bag ready.” She says, running to her room.
She really is acting weird, but I brush it off.
Thank god it’s Friday today! Being alone tonight, I’ll be able to relax, put on my ugly ass way too big pajamas, pour myself a huge glass of wine, and read to my heart’s content. Or so I thought…
My phone starts ringing. Looking at it, I answer dreading what awaits me.
“Are you almost ready?” Sandy asks at the other end of the line.
“Ready for what?” I ask confused.
“Oh, come on! Please tell me you’re not already in your ugly PJ and you did NOT forget you were coming over to Lanie’s place for the party!?” Sh e says with an exaggerated, annoying sounding voice.
“s**t! I forgot… Sorry. Maybe next time.” I say, trying to get out of it.
“Oh, no you don’t! You promised you would come. It’s going to be great! We’ll get wasted, we’ll dance and have some fun. It’s been too long since the three drunkateers have been together!” she whines.
The three drunkateers… That what we had called our self at my bachelorette party.
That night was wild. I think to myself.
I can still vividly remember my conversation with the toilet that next morning. Haven’t drunk that much ever since…
“Come on, it’ll be fun, I promise!” She pleads again.
“Fine! Give me 1 hour to get ready.” I tell her, giving in knowing she wouldn’t.
“You better show up or I’ll come over and drag your ass here if I have to!” She says, hanging up swiftly.
She sounds like she's already had a drink or two.
Getting up from my comfy chair, I knock on Kaylee’s door.
“Kaylee, can I come in?” I ask
“yep, just a min…” She replies.
Since when does she need a minute for me to come in?
“Ok, you can come in now.” She says after a moment.
“Are you sure you’re ok? You’ve been acting weird since I got home.” I ask with furrowed brows as I walk into her room.
“I’m fine mom, everything’s fine. Did you need something?” Remembering what I came in to tell her, I brush off my weird feeling again.
“Ah, yes. I just wanted to let you know I’m going to Lanie’s tonight, so if there’s anything, call me on my cell phone. I’ll keep the volume on. Oh, and make sure yours is fully charged. Last time you let it die out and I couldn’t reach you.”
“Ok mom, I’ll plug it as soon as I get to Bree’s place.” She says looking a little flushed.
Leaving Kaylee's rooms, I head to mine to get ready.
What am I going to wear?
Knowing them, it’ll be a huge party, so my outfit has to make a statement. Looking through my closet, I finally decide on a very low-cut black bodysuit with a lacy back, my high waist red short with gold buttons, and my black strappy high heels.
After putting on my clothing, I get started on my hair. Having long chestnut-colored hair almost down to my ass takes a lot of time to curl, so I better get moving and get them done.
After a good 35 minutes, I finally put on my makeup. I put on a little more than usual since it’s a party. A bit more blush and my iconic ruby red lipstick and some smokey eyes and I’m all ready to leave.
“Need me to drop you off before I go, sweet-pea?” I ask Kaylee, putting everything I need in my overnight bag, just in case I don't come back home later tonight.
“No, I’m good, Mackenzie’s picking me up. Oh, my god, mom! You look hot!” She says ass she walk-in the kitchen with her own bag in her hands.
“Thanks, BB. That’s what I was going for. Now don’t forget to charge your phone and have fun. I love you” Going over and kissing the top of her head before heading out.
“I know, love you too, and have fun!” She says as her phone pings with her text message ring tone.
Getting into my jeep, I head to the liquor store before going to Lanie’s. I text the girls just before going in, making sure they don’t need anything else. I know they must have forgotten something. They usually do.
And of course, I have to stop at the grocery store to pick up some grenadine and raspberries for my signature cocktail! I knew they would forget to buy them. I love my friends, but when they get too excited about something, their minds turn into mush!
20 minutes after I've left the store, I’m finally at Lanie’s place. I can already hear the music from outside.
What have I got myself into for tonight?
Being this close with my friends, we made it a rule that knocking at the door is unnecessary, so I just walk in. Stepping into the kitchen, there are already a few shots lining up on the counter waiting for my arrival.
“THE TRIRD DRUNKATEER HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!” They both scream at the top of their lungs, running over jumping on me, making me laugh.
“You guys are insane!” I tell them.
“Let’s get some shot going!” Sandy says, pulling me over to the lined-up shots at the counter.
“Here’s to a bunch of sexy bitches raising hell tonight! CHEERS!”
These girls are going to kill me with alcohol tonight, I tell myself, taking the shot.
