Why did I drink so much last night? My head is killing me!
Oh yeah, trying to figure out what I should do about Mathieu.
What an i***t I am!
My head and heart are still feeling so confused. I really want to believe he won't hurt me or give up on me. But I’m terrified of being hurt again. I’ve had enough heartbreak to last a lifetime.
“Morning, mom,” Kaylee said, walking into the kitchen.
“Morning sweet-pea. How did you sleep?” I ask while rubbing my temple.
“Better than you I think, you look like a truck ran over you, are you ok?” She says, getting the cereals out of the cupboard.
“It’s just a head hack, it’ll be fine after a glass of water and some Advil,” I say, rubbing my temples with both hands.
“Moring you two!” Sandy says cheerfully walking into the kitchen.
“Not so loud, please!” I say, trying to hush her down a bit. “How are you so cheerful this morning and not hungover!?” I asked, pouting a little at her.
“Ancient Chinese secret recipe,” She said, giving me a wink while pouring herself a bowl of cereal.
“You drank that disgusting mix with raw eggs, didn’t you?” I say, feeling the vomit treating to come up just thinking about drinking raw eggs.
“Hey, can’t blame me if it works. I know it’s gross, but at least I don’t look like you this morning!” She says, pulling her tongue out at me while giving me my morning Ice Cap.
“Oh, haha, you're so funny,” I say, pulling my tongue out at her in turn.
“She right tough, mom, you look like a train wreck. Have you looked in the mirror yet?” Kaylee asks, putting a huge bite of her breakfast into her mouth.
“Hey! Why are you both ganging up on me today? I’m going to take a shower, don’t be late for school BB.” I say, grabbing a towel from the pantry and going into the bathroom.
Looking at myself in the mirror, I now see what they meant. I do look like s**t! , letting out a deep breath, I hop in the warm water to clean myself up. It feels great, washing last night away.
Do I give him a chance?
This question is going to drive me insane eventually. It keeps popping in my mind over and over.
Getting out and getting ready, I take out from my closet a black, no sleeve, form-fitting knee-length dress, with my favorite red blazer and red high heels to match. I put my hair in a loose bun and put on my makeup.
Getting back in the kitchen, I see Kaylee putting her lunch in her bookbag, getting ready to head out to school. But what catches my eye, is a flustered Alex waiting by the front door. He is so cute. He’s got it bad for her. I wonder if she evens knows this.
“Got everything, sweet-pea?” I ask, knowing she most likely forgot something.
“I think so. I got my books, my pen case, my lunch. Yeah, I got everything” She says, closing her bag.
“Aren't you supposed to bring your ingredients for your science experiment today?” I hear Alex say from the door.
“Shoot! I forgot!” She says, dropping her bag on the floor and rushing through the cupboards looking for everything she needed.
I can see Alex trying to hide the smile that’s creeping upon his face while looking at Kaylee scrambling around in the kitchen.
She always forgets something. It’s kind of funny to see her scrambling around this morning.
Am I a mean mom to think like this? Maybe, maybe not.
Putting everything she got out into another bag, she thinks out loud.
“Ok, I got the bottle of vinegar, the food coloring. I got this and that, I think I got everything.” She mumbles to herself.
“Ok, I’m ready now, let’s go. Bye, mom. Love you!” She says following Alex out the door. Almost every day this week, he’s been picking her up to go to school.
“Hey Tasha, I want to talk to you about something,” Sandy says, too seriously for my liking.
Sitting back down at the kitchen table, I wait for her to continue, taking a sip of my Icecap in the meantime.
“I think Alex is going to ask Kaylee out on a date. What do you think about this?” She says very seriously.
“I think it would be awesome, if they both like each other, I don’t see a problem with it. Do you?” I ask, wondering what she thinks about it.
“I love Kaylee to pieces, I’m just not sure if she likes Alex the same way he does. I just don’t want them to lose their friendship over this.”
“Humm, I get what you mean. I just hope they’ll talk to each other privately and not in public.” I say, thinking about my own humiliation
“I get what you mean. I don’t think Alex would want to make a spectacle of asking her out. And I don’t think Kaylee would ever reject him in a harsh way if she does reject him at all. I guess we’ll see what happens after he asks her.”
Lost in thoughts for a second, I take a sip of my Icecap. I hope both of them will be ok.
“You know, I was thinking last night after I got home, maybe you should give Mathieu the benefit of the doubt and give him a chance to prove to you he has changed and is going to be there for you this time around. Maybe you guys just need to have a heart to heart talk to get everything out in the open. You never know, he could surprise you.” Sandy said, making me think that maybe I might give him a chance.
“Alright, enough with the heavy this morning, let get our butts to work!” Sandy says getting up and heading out the door to work.
