Alexandra's POV
"That was the longest flight of my life!" I told my parents as we were grabbing our luggage from the overhead bins and getting off the plane.
"Well, America is on the other side of the world, so it's going to take a while to get here." My mother says with a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
"Yeah, I know. I guess I didn't expect it to take that long though." I whined back.
We finally got off the plane and into the terminals, making our way toward baggage claim. As we are walking, I smell something that seems really familiar and reminds me of home, so I frantically start searching for the source of the smell.
"Alex, we don't have all day sweetie. We need to get to the rental car place before they close." My dad yells at me before I can pinpoint that smell.
"Coming Daddy!" I yelled back, running to keep up with my parents as this is a big airport and I'm sure I could get lost really easily. All I can think about is why that smell seems so familiar to me. It's like I've encountered it before but cant for the life of me remember where or when.
Liam's POV
Thank the goddess, my senior year is over. I was able to graduate a few days early because of my outstanding grades. Now I can go back to my pack and allow my father to retire from being the Alpha. I have been away from my home territory for the past four years, because I was part of a foreign exchange program with my high school which is why I was sent to Highland Preparatory Academy in Melbourne, Australia. The country was absolutely beautiful and I loved every minute of my stay. I got to experience many great adventures while living there for the short amount of time that I stayed. however no where is this world can beat the beauty and tranquility of my home.
I have just landed at the airport in Los Angeles, California and soon will be boarding my final flight to my home state of Colorado. My next flight is set to depart early tomorrow morning around 8am, so to kill time I decided that I'm going to go find some good food and relax in a local hotel for the evening. As I make my way toward baggage claim, my wolf and I catch a whiff of the most intoxicating smell of lilacs and honeysuckle. This causes my wolf, Jaxson, to get very excited and soon he is acting very impatient.
"MATE." He shouts "That smell is our mate! I want her now."
"Jaxson, we are never going to find her in this crowd of people!" I say back to him.
"Have faith Liam, even if we don't find her today, we know what she smells like and can try to track her down in any of the local packs in California." He sneared.
"You're right. Lets hope we can find her soon." I said back as I started thinking about my mate's scent. Something seems very familiar to me about that scent but I cant quite place it.
Alex POV
We finally leave the airport and start the drive to our new home in the foothills of what are called the Rocky Mountains. My parents were born and raised in the United States of America. Why they left is still kind of a mystery even though I have asked them multiple times. All they tell me is 'you will find out when the time is right'. Yeah, like that's ever gonna to happen. I have been waiting 6 years for the right time and so far nothing significant has happened besides the shift and learning about me being a werewolf. I'm still curious to know how my parents are human and I'm a werewolf. I continue to think about all of the events that have taken place in my life as I stare out the window into what looks very similar to the outback, but I believe we are still in Calirofnia. Finally, we stop for the night at a local motel and get some sleep. My father has been driving for the last 10 hours straight and he still says we have at least another 10 hours to go before we reach our destination.
The next morning we are back on the road again, only stopping when we have to eat or to take care of personal needs. Finally, after what seems like forever we cross into the state of Colorado and make our way to the city of Colorado Springs. Another 3 hours of driving and we pulled up to a beautiful 2-story house that sits on what looks like quite a bit of wilderness with easy access to the mountainous woods.
"Welcome to your new home Alex!" My father said as he walked up behind me after we all got out of the car.
"Thanks Dad. It's perfect, you know Reika will love it." I said excitedly.
"Yes sweetie, we thought the exact same thing when we first saw it on the market. There is lots of wilderness around here to have fun in. Just be careful because we are close to a werewolf pack, I believe." He said with caution in his voice.
At the thought of other werewolves, Reika stirred and asked if we could try to get in touch with the pack so we might be able to start the search for our mate. Even though I shifted when I was 10, Reika never spoke to me until the day of my 16th birthday. When I heard her voice for the first time I thought I was going insane, since that was one thing my father never explained to me, but then again how could he since he is human after all.
"Alex, come inside and look around. I'm sure you're tired from the long trip and would like time to relax. Tomorrow you and I can go into town and check out some of the local sites." My mother said excitedly as we made our way into the house for the very first time.
