MAETHYS POV I looked up to see the tracker. Trig didn’t command space the way Valik did. He moved like someone who could disappear if he wanted to, all quiet muscle and watchful eyes. But he still drew attention. Maybe because he looked like someone who had seen too much and learned to hold it inside his ribs. Or his crystal green eyes just drew people to their color. His gaze swept the room once, efficient, then landed on me. He started walking before I could pretend I hadn’t noticed. He reached my table with a few minutes to spare and stopped, hands loosely at his sides. He looked at my plate, then at me. His expression didn’t change much, but something about the tilt of his head said he was measuring. I had the ridiculous urge to sit up straighter. Like a child caught slouching.
