“MR. FUENTES, the media is outside. They will interview you.” My secretary said breathlessly as she followed my footsteps. I was heading to my office, I just got here, in my company's building.
"Tell them I'm busy," I replied in a cold tone as I continued my walk toward the office.
My secretary nodded and went back to the reporters immediately while I continued my walk and turned to my desk. I didn't have time for those useless interviews, it would not help me lift my life. Also, I didn't have to think something about like that stuff anymore because my schedule was loaded every day. Just like now, I have another person to deal with, it's Miguel Imari.
I opened my laptop and looked at the progress of my businesses one by one. Exciting. Later on, there was a knock on my office's door. I looked up slightly to see who it was.
"Come in," I said when I saw my secretary on the glass wall. I'm really lucky with her, she's a hardworking woman and had no traces of failure at work. I didn’t make a mistake in choosing her.
She hurriedly opened the door while her sweat was dripping down. I couldn't deny that Erika—my secretary—is beautiful, but I never once thought of liking her. I don't know why I’ve never liked a woman before. Maybe I'm really destined for a man, since that's really what my heart is beating for.
"Mr. Imari is already here. His car just entered the parking area." She reported to me.
"Great!" I smiled in response, "Is the meeting room ready?" I asked.
"It's all set."
"How about the manager? The supervisor?"
She nodded, "They are ready. Everyone is in the meeting room already. You and Mr. Imari are the only ones missing there," her answer.
I nodded in amazement, "God job! Call the guards and tell them to assist Mr. Imari," I ordered.
She nodded again and gently wiped her sweat as it walked down her neck. She was obviously tired. She was running up and down the building since this morning ang up until now. She deserves a reward.
"I already told them, and by the way, Mr. Imari has personal assistants. So he obviously does not need to be assisted. Our guards will just tell them the direction to the meeting room."
"Good. Then let's go to the meeting room," I said and headed to the meeting room. When we arrived, I was amazed because those who should be here were already in the room. Erika did a great job.
"Good morning, Mr. Fuentes," they simultaneously greeted me as I entered.
I showered them with a generous smile and said good morning back as well. "Here's what we're waiting for. Prepare yourselves, team." I said before I sat down to my exclusive luxurious chair.
We were silent for a few minutes while waiting for Mr. Imari's presence. Maybe just about two minutes when we heard a soft cracking of the door, someone was opening it, that caught the attention of us all. And, my jaw dropped when I saw the face of the man who entered the room.
"Good morning Mr. Imari," everyone greeted the man who had just entered, except for me.
Oh my goodness, this man is a god! The thickness of his eyebrows were kinda jawdropping, the blushing of his lips too! Also the depth of his dimples, his slightly-curly hair, the beauty of his hazel eyes, and the sweetness of his smile. He was so gorgeous!
At that moment, my time stopped running and everything seemed to mute. All I could hear was my heartbeat. It was slowly beating with each passing second, its beating became even stronger. Weird.
Wait, is this Mr. Imari already? or just his assistant?
"Uhm, Mr. Fuentes?" my spirit awoke when someone let out a snap in front of my face, and I was shocked to see Mr. Imari in front of me.
What the hell?
I gulped as I blinked multiple times, "A-Aw," I don't even know what to reply! This gorgeous man is probably Mr. Imari, "Shall we start?" I asked, recovering the embarrassment I had given. What had just happened? Was I obviously stunned? Maybe. That was an embarrassment!
He nodded and smiled again, my goodness! His smile melts me, "Of couse," he said.
And he had already started discussing his offer to all of us. What was his offer? I do not know. I couldn't focus. I stared blankly at him the whole time while he was discussing. He is an attention thief! He was secretly stealing my attention. Theif! He might even steal-my-heart.
I felt weirdness, I couldn't explain. The strength of my heartbeat was unexplainable. With each smile he threw, he made me restless. I know everything went too fast but... I think I had a butterfly in my stomach. Am I liking him already?
In fact, who wouldn't like him? At first glance, he was already attractive for me. His gorgeous appearance made him attractive. Does he possess a kind behavior too? Oh no. I'm afraid I might fall. He'd be a complete package in that way!
They didn't even give me a notice that Mr. Imari is so damn gorgeous. I wish I had at least prepared myself for it. Look at what I'm doing now. I looked like a clock that lacked a battery life, I'm mentally dead. Gosh! Why is he so cute?
"Mr. Fuentes, the idea was great!" Words from the manager in one of my business.
I turned my attention to him and was stunned for three seconds because I didn’t know what to answer. What did Mr. Imari discuss? I do not know. I wasn't able to focus. I was mentally dead all this time!
"A-Ah, yes! I like it too. The offer is accepted." I immediately spoke so they would not notice that I understood nothing at all.
Anyway, though I understood nothing from what Mr. Imari had discussed, I'm still confident that this offer is a nice offer. He is a well-known businessman, that's why it is impossible for him to launch a business that will only end in disaster. I put my trust on him, completely.
After I said that, everyone applauded and the room was filled with various smiles and "congratulations".
As everyone was making elegant noises, Mr. Imari passionately approached me and shook hands with me. I focused my gaze on him and oh-my-goodness, he's so perfect. I'm a victim again.
"Thank you for the opportunity, Mr. Fuentes. I promise I won't let you down," he said.
"Welcome! Thanks too, I know you're a big contributor to my company." I said, trying to hide the uncomfortable thing I felt.
