Two years had passed since Nadine’s sudden disappearance, and Theo's once warm and gentle demeanor had transformed into something unrecognizable. The pain of losing her had hardened his heart, leaving behind a bitter and grumpy man. He had searched tirelessly for any trace of her, but his efforts had been in vain. The absence of closure only fueled his resentment and frustration.

As Theo sat in his family’s opulent living room, he couldn’t help but overhear their conversation. His sister, Daphne, chimed in, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Yes, it’s such a relief not to have her tarnishing our family’s reputation anymore. Theo, you’re better off without her. You deserve someone who can truly fit into our world.”

Theo’s jaw tightened, his frustration mounting. He had hoped that his family would show some empathy, some understanding of the pain he had endured. Instead, their words cut deep, fueling his resentment towards them as well.

His father, Mr. Achilles, joined the conversation, his tone dismissive. “Let’s not dwell on the past. Nadine was a mistake, and it’s time for you to move on, Theo. Find someone more suitable, someone who can bring honor and stability to our family.”

The words stung, but deep down, Theo knew that his family’s disapproval had always been a part of their dynamic. He had hoped that love would bridge the gap, but now, it seemed like an impossible dream.
