As expected, the rest of the drive passed in silence. Eventually, the car slowed in front of my mother's small house. Tears immediately blurred my vision but I rapidly blinked them back. The sight alone made my chest ache. This used to be where we laughed, cried, and shared beautiful memories. Now it sat void and abandoned, as if it didn’t mean anything to begin with. It made me realize once again how abruptly I'd been ripped away from my small world into something I wouldn't even want for my enemy. Unlike Karen, I didn't have a choice.
