I didn’t stop fighting even when my arms hurt, even when my voice cracked, and even when it felt like my lungs were collapsing in on themselves. I still didn’t stop. “Please!” I cried in protest. “My mom... please, I need to see her! You can’t do this!” “Let me go!” I struggled harder, my feet barely touching the ground now. “I’ll come back, I swear. I just need to see her!” Then a sharp sting cut into my arm. I gasped. “What...?” I barely had time to turn my head before my vision blurred instantly. “No… no, wait—what did you—” My body went weak. The fight drained out of me like someone pulled a plug. “No… I can’t… I have to…” My mother’s face flashed in my mind before darkness overtook me. *** When I opened my eyes, I was in a lavish room. I tried to move but metal bit into my wrists. My breath hitched. Chains. My hands were secured above me and locked to the headboard of a massive king-sized bed. Panic hit instantly. “No, no!” I jerked my arms, but the chains rattled loudly. “Help! Somebody help me!” My voice echoed back at me. “Let me out!” I screamed. “Please, this isn’t funny! Let me go!” Then the door opened. I froze as Dawson walked in, shirtless, as if he owned the air I was breathing. Horror enveloped me at the sight of his ripped chest. He held a document in one hand with an unreadable expression. “Let me go,” I said firmly. “You can’t keep me like this. I’m not a criminal or your prisoner.” There was no reaction from him, he just walked slowly like he had all the time in the world. “I said let me go!” I snapped, pulling at the chains again. “At least treat me like a human being!” Still nothing from him. He stopped beside the bed with his gaze on me. “Who are you to Morgana?” he asked. The question caught me off guard. “What?” “Who are you,” he repeated, “that she could hand you over without hesitation?” My brows pulled together. “I wasn’t handed over.” His eyes narrowed slightly. “It was supposed to be a deal,” I said quickly, my breathing was uneven. “She offered.. she said I’d get paid a hundred million. I didn’t even agree yet!” He chuckled dryly. “And you believed that?” he asked. I blinked. “What do you mean?” “You really thought Morgana Snow would pay you?” he continued, shaking his head slightly. “You’re more naive than I thought.” Confusion hit me. “I don’t understand.” He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he placed the document on the bed beside me. “Look.” My hands trembled when I leaned slightly and my eyes scanned the page. Words blurred together, but one thing stood out clearly. A Contract Of Ownership. My heart pounded. “This… this isn’t real,” I whispered. “It is,” he said flatly. My head snapped toward him. “No, she said—” “She didn’t sell you a deal,” he cut in. “She sold you instead.” His words echoed in my head. “No…” “In exchange for her freedom from me,” he added. My ears rang. “She wouldn’t…” I shook my head weakly. “She wouldn’t do that.” “She already did.” I stared at the paper like it might change if I looked long enough. “…Is that the agreement?” I asked, my voice barely holding together. “Between you and her?” “Yes.” My chest felt like it was being crushed. “But… my mom…” I whispered, my voice breaking. “The hospital…” He tilted his head slightly. "You won't be seeing her anymore." "Wait, no... I..." I stammered. “She’s dead.” My world shattered. “No...” my lips trembled. “She didn’t make it,” he added with a smirk. “No, that’s not—” I shook my head violently, my chains rattling as I struggled. “You’re lying!” “Her funeral is already being arranged and I'm here making sure you won't be attending.” Horror flooded through my veins. “STOP!” I screamed, my voice broke completely. “Stop it! That’s not true!” My chest heaved as I twisted against the restraints, but pain shot through my wrists. “She was alive!” I cried. “She was waiting for me! I told her I’d come back, I told her I'll fix it!” My voice collapsed into sobs. “If you hadn’t stopped her treatment...” I choked out. “If you hadn’t done that, she’d still be alive!” "You f*****g killed her!" Immediately, his hand was around my throat. I gasped. “Enough!” he hissed. “Stop being a f*****g nuisance!” he snapped. “Stop acting like you have the right to accuse me of anything.” But I didn't allow his words to register. “I lost her!” I cried as tears streamed down my face. “She’s gone because of you!” His grip on my throat tightened slightly. “Another word,” he warned, “and you’ll regret it.” My body trembled beneath him with a mix of fear, rage, and grief, all tangled up together. “I only just wanted to save her…” I whispered weakly. His gaze didn't soften. Instead, he let go of my throat and tugged at the hem of my dress. I gasped and coughed as I tried to catch my breath, but he didn't let me because his knees slid between my thighs to part them. "No, please..." I cried. "Spread your f*****g legs!" he hissed.
