Chapter 2 - Blood, sweat and tears

I woke up with the sunahine hitting my body through the window. My head was feeling a bit dizzy and legs were hurting. I looked around but there was no trace of William. 'He probably went to work' was my first thought. Then, out of the blue, a forgotten memory came to my mind. It was about Lothar and I playing in the garden when suddenly he stopped in front of the fountain that's in the Hidden Garden. Inside it, were Lotus blossoms with little frogs and dragonflies around and inside it. It was a stunning scene. We stood still there for a while sitting on the grass.

'Lothar, where are you? It's been lonely since you left. Now I'm even pregnant. Na doomsday is coming. As long as my people survive, me and my baby can be sacrificed.'

I thought about this, sitting on the bed with my night suit on. Then I deeply exhaled and got up. I got ready for the day and went outside. After some steps, I saw the doctor looking for me. I reached over him.

"What's wrong?"

"It's just, that I think it'll be necessary to do other exams next week. I'm talking about your pregnancy."

"If they're needed, I'll do everything for the baby's sake"

"Okay, thank you, my majesty"

He then left in a hurry and I went downstairs to go eat something.

While I was heading to my studio room, the Loyal butler came to me giving me a little bag.

"It's what you asked for yesterday. I hope that my help was useful." he declared.

"Obviously, thank you a lot for this. I won't forget your efforts." I replied smiling to him.

I sat at my desk and I spent some time trying to collect one or two tears of mine in a little ampoule. I put the ampoule in the bag accompanied by a little knife and some bandages for later.

Just to be sure, I also took with me the notebook. I exited the castle, walking towards my hidden garden.

'What's so special about that place?' I asked myself without being able to answer it.

I arrived at the fountain and placed the bag near it.

First: blood. I took out the knife and made a scar in my intern left arm. It was hurting, but my willpower was far more stronger than the pain. When all the water became purple, I took out the sticky bandage and put it on the scar. Making a little pray I poured one of my tears and the dragon flake in it. After doing this, I left all of my clothes on the grass and entered the fountain leaving out only my mouth.

"I sacrifice my blood, sweat and tears for my kingdom's sake. I want everyone that lives in the Crystal Kingdom to be saved on doomsday. I will be the only one witnessing it. No one else but me."

I layed there for a bit more before exiting the water. I took out of the bag a towel and cleaned myself up. I got dressed again and I put everything back inside covering my wet hair with the towel. I turned back to look at the fountain once again. The water was no more purple and on it there was written 'Ritual completed'. It scared the hell out of me so I rushed back into the castle reaching the bathroom. I asked one of the butlers to take me some clean clothes and to leave them outside the door.

I entered the bathtub with my heart still pounding loudly.

I inhaled and exhaled for a long time before finally calming down. I finally did it, anyway. I then got dressed and took the bag with me to throw it in the moat. It's a long walk from the castle to the moat and back, but it's the best option. Plus, I need to walk more for my health.

Whilst I was walking, everything seemed so perfect around me. All the animals, plants and buildings seemed in perfect armony. The atmosphere was a lot pleasant. The acknowledgement that in one year all of this would be gone, filled my heart with painful sorrow. I reached the moat and threw in there the bag. On my way back, I noticed a tiny lake hidden by some bushes. I slowly got there to find an adorable spot. The water was so clean that you could perfectly see through it. Floating on the water, there was an egg. A tiny one. I tried to figure out its origins in vain. After some thought, I decided to take it with me by hiding it in my breast.
