He's the one

Ariana POV "Alpha Dean has been in existence for over a thousand years, although he looks younger than me. He had been in existence during the time of my great great grandfathers," Father laughs, sitting on the throne and I blink my eyes. This is not true, I mean there's no way I can believe that. The young man standing in front of me now looks like he's around the age of twenty-three and twenty-five, and I won't want to believe that he's not really around that age. "Don't flatter me and scare the young princess away, Walker. I'm not that old, at least, my look doesn't tell my real age," He smiles at my father, but behind that smile, all I see is danger and nothing else. Even if he looks friendly, something keeps telling me that this man is dangerous and he's here for something else. "Uhm..., it's nice to meet you, my lord," I try not to look nervous, but I know he must've seen through me and knows how I'm feeling right now. I feel like I'm conversing with my ancestor and it feels so weird. "Thank you, princess. You've grown into a very beautiful woman, I must confess," He smiles at me, and I force a smile at him. "Thank you, my lord. If I may ask to take my leave now, my lord. I was going to take a nap before father sent for me," I try to make up an excuse to stay away from him. "Forgive me for being rude, my princess. May I steal some of your time, please? You see, it has been a while since I last visited this castle, and I'm no more familiar with things here. Do you mind showing me around, please?" He speaks eloquently with a smile dancing on his lips. He looks like the gentleman he's not. "My lord, I..." "Sure, my lord. It's a pleasure to have you here, and my daughter won't hesitate to show you around. Please make yourself comfortable. Ariana, please take care of his Highness and make sure he has a good time. My lord, I'll tell the maids to make you something to eat. I'm sorry, I wasn't prepared for your visit, I wasn't aware that you were coming to visit today," Father chips in before I finish my statement. I was going to come up with another excuse, but I'm stuck now that father has already given his words. "Thank you, my good friend," He smile at my father before he turns around to face me, giving me a 'let's go' look. We both stride out of the throne room and as we walk through the veranda, I feel his gaze on me and my heart keeps racing. Don't tell me he recognizes me. That'll be a game over for me. "So, tell me about yourself, princess," He speaks up once we're in the garden. At this point, I need no one to tell me that he wants to talk here. "What does my lord wants to know about me, if I may ask?" I bow slightly. For the next few seconds, he only stares at me without saying anything. Even if I'm not looking at him, I feel his gaze all over me, and it keeps giving me goosebumps, as so many thoughts parade my mind. "You see, I and your father have been good friends for many years now. He's the only person I've been friends with for a long time, I don't just know why I like him so much. I don't usually make friends with people for long before having a problem with them, but it's amazing and surprising how I've been with your father for years, and still haven't had issues with him," He looks away as he speaks, and I quickly peek at him from beside him. He looks extremely handsome, for someone that has lived for over a thousand years as father has said earlier, not that I believe him though, how he still manages to keep his skin intact and glowing, is like a magic to me. "I was so happy when he had you, I carried you in my arms for so long and always admired you. Whenever I came around here then, I always carry you in my arms all day. My arms are where you found comfort, and at times, your father would travel to my pack, whenever you were crying. And funny enough, you always stopped crying when you'd see me," He looks extremely happy, looking back into the past, but I feel embarrassed about the whole thing. Why is he talking about it to me? What's my business with that? "I'm glad your Highness was there for me," I force myself to talk. I can't possibly let him do the talking alone, right? "And when you started walking, I'd come here to play with you and take you to ride a horse. We were so attached to each other," His smile looks so natural as he speaks, but I still don't think he's a good man. Now I feel so jealous, he knows so much about my childhood, and judging from how he's talking, I seemed to grow in his arms. How come father never mentioned this to me? And how come today's the first time I'm seeing this man? I haven't seen him in my entire life. "I watched you grow, and I have grown fond of you since birth," He turns to look at me, but this time, the look he has on his face depicts nothing, but danger. How he manages to switch his mood in just split seconds, is what baffles me, but that's not even the problem. The problem is the look on his face, what's behind it? "I like your father, I adore you and your safety is my priority. Ariana Brown Walker, stay away from my business, if you don't want to break the bond between the both of us, steer clear off my path, if you don't want to breathe the bond of many years between me and your father," I freeze on the spot the sudden change in his voice. He doesn't look like the soft man that was talking to me moments ago, but he now sounds like a beast in thirst for blood. "My..." "Did you ask me what I wanted to know about you?" He cuts me off, but strangely with a wide smile on his face. He doesn't look like he's the same man from moments ago, he has become soft again and looks so innocent. "I want to know the relationship between you and Roan Vandette," His eyes darken as he stares deeply into my eyes like he's trying to see through me and I feel my heart fluster...
