Ariana POV
My heartbeat increase as I stare into his eyes. How does he manage to switch his mood so quickly? But that's not even the case, this man looks dangerous and he mean every word he says to me.
"Uhm...my...my lord..."
"Do I look scary? Come on, you don't have to look like that," He ruffles my hair, having a smile on his face and I blink my eyes confusingly.
"Wow! It has really been long and this place has changed a lot. The last time I was here, wasn't like this. The garden has changed and everything in it. I miss this place," He turn away from me and look around the garden, having a pleased expression on his face. I stare at him with so many thoughts in my mind. Now I have confirmed that he is the wolf. The thought of asking him what transpired between him and Roan hits at me, but I compose myself, knowing the outcome of it if I dare to ask him such question.
We stay back in the garden for a few more minutes, before the maid finally come to call us to join my father in the dinning room.
We head back to the dinning, where mother and father are already waiting for us. Mother stands up as soon as we walk inside. He must be someone powerful for mother to stand up to greet him.
"Greetings, my lord," Mother greets him.
"Valerie, it has been a while," He smile at mother, taking a seat beside father. Mother sits down afterwards.
"It's an honor to have you here with us today. I was delighted when my husband announced your presence to me. I hope you had a good time with Ariana?" Mother asks him, and he nods with a smile on his face. If anyone ever told me that this man is dangerous, considering his smiles, I would never have believed the person, if not that I saw it with my own eyes. I can't wait for him to leave already.
"Ariana has grown so big and beautiful," He commends for the second time since he has been around and it's already making me feel uncomfortable. I feel like there's something they're not telling me.
"Thank you, my lord," Mother smiles heartily.
The maid serve us and we starts eating afterwards. I keep stealing glance at him as he eats, and everything about him is just so perfect. The way he eats, tells much of his status, the way he sits and everything about him, shows royalty.
We finally finished eating and he leaves for his pack afterward, while I return to my room after we all see him off to the stables, where his horses were kept when he came. His entourages are already waiting for him at the stables.
I crash on my bed and staring at the ceiling. I keep thinking about everything he said, and I keep getting curious. How come he knows so much about my childhood? How come he said we were always together, but I never got to see him while growing up?
The sound of my ringing phone pull me back to reality, and reaching out to it, I roll my eyes at the caller. It's Chloe. After the incident that day, we managed to get her to her apartment with the help of Alex. She was weak for a few more days before she finally recovered. I know she saved me, but she did that mostly because she didn't want father to scold Alex because of what happened.
"Hi, Chloe," I sigh softly, sitting up on the bed.
"Hi, Ari. How're you doing today?" She asks worriedly. I need someone to talk to, I need to lift this burden off my heart, but how do I start explaining this? How do I go about all these? Isn't it better I just keep it to myself and find my way around it?
"I'm fine. Why did you call me?" I ask and she scoffs from the other end. I bet what she's going to say next.
"Oh, please! Stop making yourself feel good. Can you please help me get Alex to watch a movie with me later? I got the ticket already, and I'm sure you won't let your dear friend..."
"Don't get me involved with you and Alex, please. Just call him and tell him yourself. Don't bother to call me if it still has anything to do with him, because I'm hanging up now," I disconnect the call and roll my eyes. My phone beeps seconds later, and turns out that it's a message from my annoying friend. She's begging me to help her out. Not that I have a choice though.
Alex is not around now, I'll tell him later. I text her back and drop my phone on the bed. I stand up from the bed and walk out of the room, I need to visit the fountain and have a bath there, if possible.
Stepping out of the room, I walk through the hallway, but I stop abruptly as I hear noises coming from the corner of the hallway. Listening closely to the voice, they seem to be coming from mother and father. They're arguing about something.
"Why are you acting as if you don't know why he was here?" I hear father's voice.
"There's no way I'll allow this, my lord. How can you even think of taking this decision?" Mother's angry voice fires.
"You know this decision isn't just made today, Val. Why are you making this difficult for everyone of us? We both know what alpha Dean is capable of doing, and we know very well what will happen if we choose to go back on our words now. We have keep to this promise for years now, and this is not right, trying to breach it now," Father speaks calmly, as though he's trying to make mother understand with him.
"And you think that I'll ever allow my only daughter to be married off to someone that's old enough to birth the two of us? Hell no! There's no way I'll ever allow that. I don't care about the agreement in the past, you should do something about it!" I freeze on the spot upon hearing this. Wait! Don't tell me it's what I'm thinking? No! This is not happening, not now and not forever. How can they possibly do something like that?
"We promised him, Val, and..." I push the door open and storms in on them before father can finish his statement. The two of them look shocked to see me and I was expecting the reaction from them.
"Ariana?" They both call surprisingly.
"Mother... Father... Is it true?" I ask with my mouth trembling, as I pray silently that they tell me that I didn't hear them right.
They both glance at each other and drop their heads...
