Roan Vandette
You can imagine the pain of being a werewolf but have never felt like one before, right? Well, as bad as it is, I happen to be the victim of the moon goddess' curse. Yeah! That's what I can say. Mom and dad have told me severally not to say that, but that's just the truth. I mean, isn't it a curse that I was born by two werewolves, not just any werewolves, but an Alpha and a Luna, and still have no features or characteristics of a wolf? Mom had told me several times that it was not something serious, she assured me that everything will be fine, but behind every assurance, she had given me, the fear in her was always visible. I feel so horrible.
During the full moon when all the werewolves shifts into their wolf, while they're there, I always lock myself indoors and drown in my miserable world, while feeding on my tears. Of course, this is a secret known by just me and my parents. You aren't expecting us to tell anyone about it, are you? How can we possibly tell anyone something as shameful as this? How can I tell someone that the only son of the Alpha of the moonstone pack is wolfless? That's the height of it all.
Sitting on my bed while burying my face in my palm, I couldn't help the tears that keeps flooding down my cheeks. Just the thought of my miserable life keeps driving me crazy. When will this end? Will I ever get to be happy in my life? Well, so far I think that question will be left to fate to answer.
Guess who's turning twenty-seven next month with no werewolf? Well, that's obviously me, and no doubt about this. Normally, werewolves have their shifts at the age of sixteen, and the later ones always have it at the age of eighteen, but here I am getting old and still got no werewolf, isn't that funny and crazy?
The sound of the knock on my door pulls me back to reality and of course, I need no one to tell me who must be at the door, it's my maid. I know she must've come to call me for dinner, judging from the time, but heck! Food is the least of my problem, so she better take it away.
"My prince, your food is ready," her voice echoes from outside, and an unbelievable scoff tears through my throat. If only she knows what I'm going through, I'm sure she won't even think of giving me food.
"Alright, I'll be there," I reply to her, not bothering to raise my gaze to look at my closed door. You aren't expecting me to tell her to go away, right? Well, I don't want her forcing me, that'll only add to my frustration and I'm not in for that now.
Seconds slowly tick into minutes and soon it's already late at the night. I sigh deeply, getting off the bed and dragging my feet to the bathroom.
My name is Roan Vandette, the only son of the alpha of the Moonstone pack, alpha Vandette. I've just been living a miserable life here. While my parents are in the pack with the other werewolves, I get myself confined here in my dad's penthouse, living like the loner that I am. I am supposed to be the heir to the throne, but there's no way in hell anyone would let a weakling who doesn't have the features of a werewolf rule them, right? It hurts to live like this, but it seems that this is how my life was designed, it seems like my life has already been planned by the moon goddess.
After having my bath, I walk back into my room and carry out my usual routine of applying lotion to my skin, then slid into my pajamas and jump on the bed. My mind wanted to drift into trauma, but I try my best not to think of anything. I haven't had a good sleep in a while, and letting my mind get disturbed by my plight again is the last thing I wanted.
I have no idea how many hours I'd been asleep, the sound of the knock on my door pull me out of my deep slumber. Judging from how whoever is at the door keeps banging on it, I know at once that he or she must've knocked a couple of times and got no answer.
"Who's there?" I groan tiredly, trying to force my heavy eyes open. It has been a while since I last had a good sleep, the person should've allowed me to sleep a little more.
"Roan...Roan are you there?" mom's worried voice quivers from outside, and I quickly jump off the bed. What's she doing here this early morning?
Hurrying to the door, I unlock and pull it open to see her standing, and looking as beautiful as always in her long loose gown, with a worried look on her face.
"Mom?" I call surprisingly as soon as I spot her, but she rushes in and pulls me into her arms like she'd missed me so much. Why's she acting weird?
"I've missed you so much, son," She squeezes me into her arms tightly, and I roll my eyes while patting her back. Don't tell me she came down here because she had missed me? That's funny but cute though.
"Mom, did you come down here because of this? You disrupted my sleep," I groan once she pulls away, pretending to be angry. Of course, I can never be mad at her, she's my queen. The only woman that loves and cares about me, the only woman that'll do anything to put a smile on my face, so won't I be a jerk to be mad at her?
"Giselle called and told me that you didn't have dinner yesterday. Were you crying again?" She asks sadly, her blue eyes piercing into mine. Why would Giselle tell her that, knowing how worried she would be? That girl will surely pay for getting my woman angry. Wondering why I call her my woman? Well because she's indeed my woman. I pray I have someone as beautiful, loving, and caring as her for a mate, that's if I'm ever going to have one.
"No way! I wasn't crying, mom. And about the dinner, I got so tired yesterday that I couldn't have dinner," I lie to her, going to sit on the bed. You aren't expecting me to tell her that I was crying, right?
Silence assumes the air, and of course, I know what she must be thinking. She has always been worried about me. She should be because even I am worried about myself.
"Your dad sent his greetings. He would've come with me, but he was busy with something back in the castle so he couldn't come along," She explains, and I nod my head as I smile at her forcefully. Both of my parents are the best I ever had, they love and care about my happiness and welfare.
"Roan, about your..."
"It's fine mom, I don't want to talk about it," I cut her off, knowing what she is about to say. Starting my day with an awful topic is the last thing on my mind.
She sighs softly, and finally sits beside me.
"Your dad got you a ticket to magic college," She break the shocking news after a long silence, and I snap my head to look at her with my eyes widened in shock. Is she being serious or this is some joke?...
