Roan Vandette
My day was spent the same way I've always spent it. Nothing new or special about it. The school was boring today because my mind was filled with so many thoughts and I couldn't concentrate in class. Not that I was concentrating before. I mean, I never liked the idea of coming to school in the first place. It was all my parent's idea, and I couldn't say no.
I got home quite early, and I have been in my room as always. I keep glancing at the wall clock while anticipating the arrival of Levi. According to him, we were supposed to visit whoever he wanted us to visit, tonight. I give it a second thought, but decide to remove every doubt from my mind and stay focused. Trusting someone didn't turn out well at first, maybe I should give this a chance and see if I'll end up regretting it or not.
While waiting for him, the thought of the white wolf fills my mind and for some unknown reason, I find myself smiling. For the first time in my life, thinking of something or someone makes me so excited. I just want to see her again, maybe in human form, and see what she looks like. This is crazy, but I think I like the white wolf already. I think I'll go look for her sometimes.
'I love him' Ariana's words ring in my head again, and I sigh briefly. I have been trying to get over it, but she keeps giving me reasons not to. Recalling her expression back at the infirmary today, I couldn't settle for more. She looked so sad and hurt by my words. I shouldn't have said that to her, knowing that she was just trying to help me, but then I had to make her see the reality so she won't end up expecting so much from me that I won't be able to give her.
"Greetings, my lord. Levi," Levi's voice sounds from outside, bringing me back to reality. I sigh deeply before I finally stride to the door and pull it open. He's standing in front of my door. He's wearing black leather pants and a tight jacket, with a big cloak over his body. The big hoodie is pulled over his head, covering his face. I'm sure he must've done that to be able to leave the castle.
"I'm ready, my lord," He bows slightly and I nod. He leads us through the hallway until we're out of the building. Two horses are already waiting for us outside, so we just hop on them and ride through the dark and deserted route. It's late in the middle of the night, and we seem to be the only creatures outside now. It has been a while since I rode a horse, and I must commend that I'm enjoying this.
As we speed through the darkness, I keep asking myself many questions, one of which is if Levi was trying to lure me into being killed, but then I decided to shut my mind from all negative thoughts and keep hoping that this turns out well.
"Where exactly are we going to, Levi?" I stop my horse in the middle of the woods, looking around. We're going farther into the forest and it's becoming dangerous but still, we still haven't gotten to our destination. It's alarming and scary at the same time. For someone that can't even protect himself, it's fine to be scared, right?
"We'll be there in two hours, my lord," My eyes widen even if he can't see through the darkness. Two hours is too much to be on the horse, I may pass out anytime soon. I've never been on a horse for three hours all my life. The longest I can go is one and a half hours and here we are, about to embark on the journey of four hours. Yes, we've been out for the past two hours.
"Come on," He pulls his horse reil and gallops away, while I follow him from behind. After riding for what seems like forever, we finally cross what I assume to be the boundary, and that's when I realize that we've tampered into another pack if I'm to say.
We ride through the woods for the next thirty minutes, before I finally spot the smoke coming from ahead of us, which tells me that we're almost at our destination. In less than twenty minutes, I spot a log cabin located inside the forest. It's the only building here as the surrounding is nothing but forest.
I slow down my pace as my horse now walks slowly toward the entrance of what looks like a gate that is designed with leaves and trees. I wonder how they'll be safe here with this kind of gate. I mean, it's easy for enemies to trespass. I pull the reil of the horse when it's too slow and it gallops toward the gate, but it neighs loudly and jumps up, throwing me off its back and I land on the ground with a loud thud. It seems like a barrier or magic power is protecting the gate.
"My lord," Levi jump down from his horse and rush to help me up to my feet.
"I'm sorry, my lord. The gate has a spell that's protecting it. Forgive me for not telling you this earlier," He apologizes and I nod. Wow! I thought as much.
"The gate will be opened soon," He assures me and I just nod while breathing heavily. The sudden urge to throw up suddenly spur through me, and I empty my stomach in the nearest place before I could stop myself. It must be as a result of the long ride.
"Do you want me to get you some water?" He asks worriedly and I wave my hand at him while trying to recover from the vomit.
"The gate is opened, my lord," He announces and we head in afterward. Stepping into the gate, my mouth drops open at the sight that welcomes me. What the heck is going on here?...
