Scold

1061 Words
"What were you thinking? What is your problem?" That's my father, scolding Alex. I don't know why father is being all angry. I was only trying to protect Luna. Seeing the worried look on Roan's face, I couldn't just watch his mom gets hurt and not do anything about it. I had to pretend that I passed out, so my father won't scold me. I'm here lying on my bed and pretending to still be unconscious, while my brother takes all the blame. I can imagine the pain of being a man now, he has to take all the responsibilities. "Forgive me, father. I failed to protect the princess," He says like the obedient son he is. I peeked at him, and there he is, on his knees while father glares at him. "Just pray that nothing happens to your sister, else you'll have yourself to be blamed for it. If anything happens to her, today will mark the last day you will go out of this palace. Nonsense," He scolds Alex one more time before he finally walks out of the room, slamming the door behind him and I release the breath I've been holding unknowingly. "Are you happy now?" He sighs, and I open my eyes to find him glaring down at me. I should've known that I can deceive every other person, but definitely not my dear brother. He knew all along that I'd been awake. "Alex..." I manage to sit up on the bed, having an apologetic look on my face. It was his idea to go to the party after father mentioned it to us, he was the one that persuaded me, but I bet if he had known something like this was going to happen, he wouldn't have thought of persuading me. "You're just full of surprises. The last time I checked, you were the one that said you were not going to attend the party, and you're the one that caused trouble for me. I shouldn't have persuaded you to go, maybe I won't be here and receiving this blames now," He rolls his eyes, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Come on, stop making this look like it's all my fault. Even you will do what I did if you were in my shoes," I scoff. "Remember I was there too, so don't make it look like you were the only one there," He shrugs. "Even so. I couldn't have stayed back and watched the innocent woman get hurt, right? Besides, she was just trying to protect her son, and I see nothing wrong in protecting her," I roll my eyes. Talking about Roan, there's something weird I noticed about him today, but I'll think about it later, for now, I have to deal with my brother. "I understand the fact that you were just trying to be a superwoman, but the next time you do that, make sure that you take the blame all alone. Excuse you," He stands up and exits the room, slamming the door behind him. I've never seen him this angry before, he must've been hurt by father's words. I'll make it up to him later, I know best how to appeal to him. The thought of Roan flash through my mind, and I stop to think about him. The incident of earlier is still so fresh in my head, and the weird thing that happened is the fact that he looked so helpless when those wolves attacked them. It can't possibly be what I'm thinking, right? My mind wanders off to the thought of Jeremy, and my eyes narrow. Now that I think of him, I think I'm beginning to suspect something. He was the one that called and warned me of the danger ahead, how come he knew about it? Or could it be that he had something to do with the attack today? Talking about the attack, I didn't have any clue where those wolves came from, but I'm sure that Roan must've found his way around it now. The sound of the knock on my door pulls me back to reality, and I quickly lay on the bed. I don't want father to barge in here and find me sitting down. That'll be a game over for me. "Come in," I voice out, pretending to be in pain. The door opens and Alex walks inside, still having that frown on his face. "Alex, come on. You don't have to look like that. Alright, I'm sorry. It's entirely my fault," I whine, holding his hands. "I'm not here for that. Jeremy is here to see you," He announces, and my smile slowly dissipates into a deep frown. The door opens and Jeremy walks in, having a small smile dancing on his lips. What the heck is he doing here? "I'll leave you two to talk. Behave yourself, Ari," Alex warns me before he finally leaves the room, leaving the two of us inside the room. "Uhm... Hi!" He looks nervous. Too bad that I don't fall for those old tricks of his. Maybe you must still be clueless about my relationship with Jeremy, so let me briefly talk about him. Jeremy happened to be my first love, we both were dating back then and we loved each other so much. My brother warned me to stay away from him, that he's a bad guy, but I never listened to him because I was so into this jerk then. I thought my brother just wanted to ruin our relationship because they were friends. I've heard that so many times, brothers are always protective of their sisters, especially when it comes to their friends. The only mistake I made back then, was not listening to my brother, I should've known that anything related to my perverted brother will be the same as him. Maybe we weren't destined to be together, he cheated on me and we broke up. Although he has been trying to make things up between us for years, there's no way in hell I would give him a chance in my life, not again. "Why are you here?" I ask. "Ari...I..." "Do you have anything to do with the attack on the blue moon pack today?" I cut him off, and the look on his depicts that he has something under his sleeve...
