Ariana POV
I stand frozen on the spot with my mouth hanging open in shock. Everything still seems like a dream to me, and I don't think I can ever wake up from it. The fact that Roan turned out to be alpha Vandette's son is still shocking, and the sudden announcement of his mate took me by surprise. I know this shouldn't be any of my business, and I shouldn't be getting worked up about it, but for some reason, I can't explain, I feel so sad.
When my father told me to attend the birthday party so I can meet some friends, I didn't agree to it, but something keeps telling me to come here. I should've listened to my instinct and not shown up here.
I watch as a young lady dressed in a black shiny gown climbs the podium, and I presume that she must be the 'Octavia' girl that the priest just called. My heart hurts and boils in anger as I watch her climb the podium, looking all excited. I finally get to see her face when she turns around to face the crowd, and I recognize her at once. I think I've seen her a couple of times before, but I can't place where exactly I've run into her.
"Are you OK?" I quickly recognize the voice to be Chloe. She's not here with me, but she just spoke in my head. It's what she does a lot. We came together, along with Alex. You know what it'll mean since her sweetheart came along.
"Yes, I'm fine," I reply to her in telepathy. My phone rings, and I fum upon seeing the caller. Why would Jeremy call me? I disconnect the call and focus on Roan. He is looking as hot as always in the black velvet trouser and T-shirt he's wearing, his clothes are adorned with shiny stones that glitter beneath the light, and his raven hair is clinging to his head, with some strands covering a part of his forehead, making him hotter. I just wish he's mine, I've developed some crazy feelings for him ever since I met him.
"Hi! Mind dancing with me?" A smelly masculine voice speaks from behind me, and my stomach grumbles in anger. Trying to check where that smell came from, is the last thing on my mind, so I just walk away from him. My phone rings again, and I roll my eyes. Why would Jeremy think of disturbing me now?
I huff angrily and walk outside to pick up the call. I wonder why Alex gave him my number. I've told him several times to leave me the hell alone, but it seems like he's never going to listen.
"What is it, Jere..."
"You need to leave there, now! I tried calling Alex, but his phone is not reachable. You have to leave that place, it's not safe," He sounds worried over the phone, and I quickly check the phone screen, to be sure it's Jeremy that really called me.
I walk back inside and look around, trying to get a clue about what Jeremy was talking about, but everywhere still looks so calm and there's nothing that calls for an alarm. Just when I am about to go meet Alex, a loud and dangerous howl fills the air, and before anyone can comprehend where it came from, huge wolves troops in, looking like they're going to devour anyone they can lay hands on...
Roan POV
My whole body trembles in fright, as I stare at the wolves casting everyone's menacing looks. They look like they've come to attack us, and even if I try to read where they're from, I can't seem to understand where they're from.
I gulp down the lump in my throat, balling my fists as I step back in fear. My heart starts racing like it's going to pop out anytime soon.
"Protect the prince," That's my mom's voice. Her eyes suddenly change color to bright golden, her fingers grow long and rough as her hands and legs add rough weight massively over the seconds, and in the blink of eyes, she's standing right in front of me in her wolf form, casting them a warning look and howl. Mother is trying to protect me. My father has already gone inside to rest because he's yet to recover from the poison.
The birthday party a few minutes ago that was filled with fun and joy, suddenly turn into a battlefield as the werewolves fights like their lives depended on it. Mother's wolf is fierce and dangerous, she makes sure that she devours any one of them that she can lay her hands on. I wish I can help her, but here I am and I can't even do anything about it. Tears find their way out of my eyes as I grit my teeth.
Their howls fill the atmosphere. One of the wolves charges at my mother, but before they could get to her, a pure white wolf pushes my mother's wolf away, and faces the two with a dangerous look on its face. Her furs are as white as the snow, her tail is so long and its fur is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, her ear are so long and not like every other wolf I've seen, and her fangs are so long and beautiful to behold, there's a chain on her left leg. Her howl is out of the world, how can a female wolf look so powerful?
The two wolves move back from her, glaring at her menacingly. She growls threateningly, walking around mother's wolf that's now lying on the ground, she seems to have gotten injured.
"Mother!" I cry out, rushing over to where her wolf is lying, but something knocks me off the ground before I get to her, and that's all I remember as everywhere suddenly becomes dark...
