She couldn’t help it. As much as she wanted to hate Rance right then, the fact he had protected her like he did had meant the world to her. Not that she needed protecting, of course, because she didn’t. No, she could quite take care of things herself, but never had someone stepped in for her like he just did, and it made her passion ache for him. And to add to that, the fact she knew he hated her idea of using herself as bait, he was still willing to go along with it, simply because it was her idea. That meant more to her than him protecting her. “Now, get dressed,” she told him as she moved to slip her pants on. “I’ll buy you a drink and we can figure this out.” She heard moving across the forest floor and a second later, she felt him grab her arm and spin her around, fire in his eyes.
