Sylvia watched Evans intently. Would he pull out a knife? A gun? Call for Rocco to handle her execution instead? But then his gaze lightened, his expression calm, back to its usual cold detachment. "Then don't fail," he said. Sylvia sighed in relief, though her chest was still tightened from frustration, fear warring within her. Now given the chance to protest further, Sylvia took it. "You can't just throw me to the wolves and expect me to come out unscathed," she said, her voice rising. "I'm not invincible, Evans." His lips curved into a faint, humorless smile. "No, you're not.
