Only More Questions and One Answer

Okay, so I got detention for the rest of November. I refused to tell my parents why I was running in the halls. I know, I know; not smart. But it's also not smart for that little Alex b***h to threaten me. Sure, it's nice to have a somewhat yandere girl like Emmy from my favorite novel, Sister from Hell. That girl is so lit. Her demonic powers, the way she seduces Nico... it's just all so good. The errors in that novel though, my god. Then again, Nico wrote it when he was only in sixth grade; he was inexperienced. But whatever. Enough of that. Long story short, I got punished by my parents. Punishment: No phone or computer 'til I confess why I ran in the halls. So, this sets me back a bit in how to contact anyone when Alex kills or harms me. So... looks like I'm gonna have to do things with a notepad and pen and take notes that way. I went by myself outside and bought a notepad from the dollar store, which came with a free pen. I walked out of the store and noticed Jenna. Great and bad, because she knows I've been spying on her in a non-pervy way. I just gotta make sure I look casual. So, I walked passed her, who was also alone. I turned back around toward her after I was a good distance behind her. She went into a small pawn shop. Wait, a pawn shop? Why would she- "Damien? What do you think you're doing?" asked the somewhat startling, cute voice. Wait. Oh s**t, it's- "Alex?! Why are you here?" Yup, it was the sexy b***h again. Pink, cotton sweater, grey sweatpants, and stylish boots. "Um, I'm helping Jenna find the perfect razor blade?" Alex explained--wait a minute, find the perfect razor blade?!. "What the fu-" I was glad I got cut off, as Alex took my arm and pulled me into an alley next to the store. "Keep your pretty mouth shut, dick." Alex seemed serious. Serious and somewhat furious. It was pretty hot. "U-um... I'm just wondering why you're doing all of this." Alex tilted her head, "I thought we were over this? Christ, you're an absent-minded freak." "Okay, this b***h has officially gone too far." "Remember when I said I was telling Jenna to kill herself? Well, I'm helping her find a good blade so she'll die quicker." "But just from the cuts alone, it would be a slow death anyway." Alex sighed. "Look, I'm not gonna turn you in or anything... but just why are you doing this?" "I already told you, i***t. I don't like-" "Besides that, b***h!" Pause. I just called the love of my life a b***h. I've never done that before, obviously. But I also didn't expect to do it so suddenly. She had it coming, though. For someone that's driving someone else to suicide, she needs some sense knocked into her. The pause continued for two more minutes. Breathe in. Breathe out. Alex opened her mouth, "Okay, you promise not to tell anyone? Or turn me in?" I sharply nodded. "Okay..." Alex took something, looked like some sort of letter, out of her pants pocket, "I was hired, by a lottery, to be an AID." I raised an eyebrow, "An aide? To who?" "It's 'To whom?' And AID stands for Artificially Intelligent Devil." "Fitting. Wait a minute, that sounds a lot like the Squip pill. Then again, it can't be that. Otherwise, if it were a Squip pill, this would be seen as an unoriginal story." "They're assigned to you randomly, every year. It started back 4 years ago, and it's been a thing ever since." Alex handed me the letter: Dear Alexandria Da'Argelo, By our special lottery pick out of volunteers, you have been selected to be the year's newest AID. Your set of instructions will come to you when the time is right. Remember, your only an AID. You're not trying to help someone; only tempt them into doing something they'll learn to accept. Best of luck, AID Team. "So, is it illegal?" Not the best question, but I could try to ask it in an innocent way. Alex looked annoyed. Then she laughed, "Of course it is, silly!" She flicked her finger on my forehead again. "But-" But nothing. Alex gave me a kiss a quick kiss on both my cheeks. Then she made me lower myself down so she could kiss me on the forehead. Then she skipped out of the alley and into the pawn shop. I heard Jenna greet her, saying that she'd been waiting. I still had the letter. There were still a lot of questions. You can volunteer to work for an illegal group and not be selected because of a stupid lottery? Was she assigned to Jenna specifically? Or did they spy on her and knew she didn't like Jenna much? I just couldn't wrap my head around it all, but my phone vibrated. I checked it. Just a reminder that I should be coming home. Well, no notes today. Only more questions and one answer: Alex works for AID. That also explains what Michael's been telling me, although I never listened. He used to tell me these stories that people are all committing suicide because of one person. I thought it was a nice story and put it on my list for story ideas. But now that I know this has to be it, will Alex come to "aid" me? Or anyone else in the school? Either way, I had to find a way to prevent it. But, my original plan was to get Jenna away from suicide. She seems too convinced of it since she thinks that she and Alex are oh-so-great friends. I took my notepad out and wrote: Objective Get Jenna to not commit suicide. Answer as many questions I can answer before I f*****g lose my mind.
