DOMINIC’S POV Ruby stayed curled up against me for the rest of the flight. I watched her; I was unable to look away, anyway. There was something about the way she relaxed in her sleep, like the weight of the world had finally slipped off her shoulders. There was a strange swell of something in my chest. It was strange but not unwelcome. It was affection. The thought came quickly. But as I looked at her, it felt right. The gentle chime of the overhead speaker broke the silence, followed by the pilot’s voice. “We’re beginning our descent into Milan, Mr Rutherford and Ms DanCliffe.
