Akira's heart was still racing from the intimate moment she had shared with Kaid. She had given him her flower, the symbol of her trust and love. But as they stood in her family's living room, facing her father's wrath, she realized that their love was about to be put to the test.
"Akira, how could you be so foolish?" her father thundered, his eyes blazing with anger. "You gave your flower to a coyote? A stranger?"
Akira lifted her chin, her voice steady. "Kaid is not a stranger, Father. He's my mate, and I trust him with my life."
Her father sneered. "Your mate? Ha! He's a coyote, Akira. A creature of the wild. He's not worthy of you."
Kaid's eyes narrowed, his voice low and even. "I may not be a fox, sir, but I love Akira with all my heart. And I promise to protect her and make her happy."
Akira's father snorted. "Love? Ha! You don't know the meaning of the word. Akira, you have two options: either you break up with this...this coyote, or you get married to him right now."
Akira's eyes widened in shock. "Married? Father, I'm not even twenty yet!"
Her father's eyes were unyielding. "You're old enough to make your own decisions, Akira. And if you choose to be with this coyote, then you'll have to face the consequences. Marry him, or leave him. Those are your only options."
Akira felt Kaid's hand tighten around hers, and she knew that he was willing to stand by her no matter what. But she also knew that her father would never back down.
"I need time to think," Akira said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.
Her father's eyes narrowed. "You have until tomorrow, Akira. Then, you'll have to make your choice. And if you choose to be with him, then you'll have to face the consequences."
Akira nodded, her heart heavy with the weight of her father's ultimatum. She knew that she had to make a choice, but she also knew that she couldn't lose Kaid. She had to find a way to make her father understand, to make him see that Kaid was the one for her.
As they left her family's house, Akira felt Kaid's arm around her shoulders, his warmth and strength comforting her. She knew that she had a long night ahead of her, but she also knew that she wasn't alone. She had Kaid, and together, they would face whatever came their way.
They walked in silence, the only sound being the crunch of gravel beneath their feet. Akira's mind was racing, her thoughts a jumbled mess of emotions and doubts. She knew that she had to make a choice, but she didn't know what the right one was.
As they approached Kaid's car, he turned to her, his eyes filled with concern. "Hey, are you okay?"
Akira nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "Yeah, I'm fine."
Kaid's eyes narrowed. "You don't look fine. You look like you're about to collapse."
Akira sighed, her shoulders sagging. "I just feel so overwhelmed, Kaid. My father's ultimatum, the pressure to make a choice...it's all just too much."
Kaid's arms wrapped around her, holding her close. "Hey, it's okay. I'm here for you. We'll face this together, okay?"
Akira nodded, her head buried in his chest. She knew that she had found her mate in Kaid, and she was determined to make their relationship work, no matter what her father said.
