Alex's POV When I opened my eyes, the first thing I noticed was that the other side of the room was empty, but the sheets were still creased, and I knew he had slept there. He’d been in the room all night, like he said he would. It was the first time in days that he’d returned to the bed instead of curling up in a cave like some stubborn wolf pup, and I should’ve felt relieved, but instead, I just felt... exhausted. Because I had barely gotten any sleep. It was impossible to rest with him lying just a few feet away from me with his presence filling up every corner of the room. Every breath he took, I could hear.
