The cold reality

The day of the wedding finally arrived, and Katherine felt like she was trapped in a whirlwind. She stood in front of the mirror, her maid of honor, Sophia, helping her with her veil.

As she took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves, she heard a knock on the door. It was Collin Leo, Lorenzo's best friend and best man. Katherine had met him briefly at the rehearsal dinner, and she was struck by his charming smile and warm eyes.

"Hey, Katherine," Collin said, his voice friendly. "You look stunning. Lorenzo's a lucky man."

Katherine smiled, feeling a little more at ease. "Thanks, Collin. You're looking pretty great yourself."

Collin chuckled and handed her a small box. "I was asked to give you this. It's a gift from Lorenzo."

Katherine's heart skipped a beat as she opened the box. Inside, she found a beautiful diamond necklace with a note that read, "To my future wife, with love." She felt a pang of surprise; she hadn't expected Lorenzo to be so thoughtful.

As they walked down the aisle, Katherine's eyes met Lorenzo's, and she felt a spark of electricity. The ceremony was a blur of vows and rings, and before she knew it, they were pronounced husband and wife.

The reception was a grand affair, with friends and family gathered to celebrate their union. Katherine's father beamed with pride as he toasted the newlyweds. Collin gave a heartfelt speech, welcoming Katherine into their circle of friends.

As the night wore on, Katherine found herself enjoying Collin's company. He was easy to talk to, and she appreciated his kind words about her. But whenever she glanced at Lorenzo, she felt a sense of unease. There was something about him that she couldn't quite read.

As they danced, Collin leaned in close. "You know, Katherine, I've known Lorenzo for a long time. He's a good guy, but he can be... complicated."

Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Complicated?"

Collin nodded. "Yeah. He's had a lot on his plate, and sometimes it can be hard to get close to him. But I think he's really happy to have you in his life."

Katherine smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Collin. Maybe, just maybe, she would find happiness in this marriage after all.

Collin's expression turned serious. "Katherine, I care about you both, and I want to see you happy. If there's anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to reach out."

Katherine appreciated Collin's kindness, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was alone in this marriage. And that Lorenzo's cold nature was just the beginning of her problems.
