He Hate Her

1052 Words
Katherine stood in the grand hallway of the Raymond estate, trying to catch her breath. She had excused herself from the family gathering, needing a moment of solitude. But as she turned a corner, she overheard voices coming from the study. "Lorenzo, you need to understand the importance of this marriage," Mason Raymond's voice was stern. "Katherine's family business is crucial to our expansion plans. We can't afford to let it fall into the wrong hands. You need to keep her happy and ensure the merger goes through." Lorenzo's response was bitter. "You just don't get it, Father. I don't love Katherine. I love Ruby. I was engaged to Ruby before Katherine, And I'm tired of being forced into this marriage for the sake of business." Mason's tone turned cold. "Ruby is not suitable for our family's interests, Lorenzo. Katherine is the key to our success. You need to put your feelings aside and focus on the bigger picture." Katherine felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes as she listened to the conversation. She couldn't believe that Lorenzo's father was so ruthless and manipulative. And Lorenzo's words cut deep - he loved Ruby, not her. "I hate being trapped in this marriage," Lorenzo said, his voice filled with frustration. "I hate Katherine. She's just a means to an end. But I love Ruby, Father. Can't you see that?" Katherine's heart broke as she heard the pain and desperation in Lorenzo's voice. She felt like she was living in a nightmare, and she didn't know how to wake up. As she stood there, frozen in shock, Mason's voice rose. "You'll do what I tell you to do, Lorenzo. You'll make this marriage work and secure our family's future. Ruby is just a distraction. Forget about her and focus on Katherine." Katherine couldn't take it anymore. She turned and walked away, trying to hold back her tears. She knew she had to get out of there, but she didn't know where to go or what to do. All she knew was that she couldn't stay in this toxic marriage any longer. *** As Katherine walked away from the study, she felt a chill run down her spine. She knew she had been caught eavesdropping, and she was afraid of the consequences. As she turned a corner, she saw Lorenzo standing in the hallway, his eyes fixed on her. Their gazes met, and Katherine felt a shiver run down her spine. Lorenzo's eyes were cold and hard, his expression twisted in anger. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable. Then Lorenzo's eyes seemed to bore into hers, and he glared at her with a warning. Katherine felt a surge of fear as she realized that she had seen something she wasn't supposed to. From that moment on, Lorenzo's behavior towards her changed. He became even colder and more wicked, his words cutting and hurtful. Katherine felt like she was walking on eggshells, never knowing when he would lash out at her. At night, Katherine would often decide to sleep on the floor, unable to bear the thought of sharing a bed with Lorenzo. She would lie on the soft carpet, her eyes fixed on the ceiling, feeling lost and alone. As the days went by, Katherine realized that she was trapped in a marriage that was slowly draining her of her soul. She felt like she was living in a prison, with no escape in sight. One night, as she lay on the floor, Katherine heard Lorenzo's voice above her. "What's wrong, Katherine? Can't sleep in your own bed?" His tone was mocking, and Katherine felt a surge of anger. She looked up at him, her eyes flashing with defiance. "I just prefer it this way," she said, her voice steady. Lorenzo's eyes narrowed, and he took a step closer to her. "You're my wife," he said, his voice low and menacing. "You'll sleep in the bed where you belong." Katherine felt a shiver run down her spine as Lorenzo's words hung in the air. She knew she was in for a long and difficult night. Leave my room and have the other room it yours," Lorenzo's voice thundered, his eyes blazing with anger. "I'm tired of seeing you in my space. I'm fed up!" Katherine's eyes welled up with tears as she pleaded with him. "Please, Lorenzo, I won't disturb you. She plead I don't want to fall on you while I am going to work." "Leave." Lorenzo yelled Katherine nodded, her heart heavy with sorrow. She took a bedspread and left the room, but instead of going to her own room, she opened the balcony door that leads to his room and stepped out into the chill of the night. The cold air hit her like a slap, but she didn't care. She took a bed sheet and spread it on the floor, laying down to stay close to Lorenzo's room. She knew her father would be suspicious if she didn't share a room with her husband, and she couldn't afford to raise any more questions. As she lay on the hard floor, Katherine felt the tears streaming down her face. She was trapped in a marriage that was suffocating her, and she didn't know how to escape. The cold seeped into her bones, but she didn't move, her eyes fixed on the stars above. The sound of Lorenzo's voice carried out to the balcony, and Katherine's heart skipped a beat. She knew she was just a few feet away from him, but it felt like an eternity. As the night wore on, Katherine's body began to ache from the hard floor. She wrapped the sheet tighter around her, trying to warm herself up. But despite the discomfort, she felt a sense of peace wash over her. She was alone, and for a moment, she could forget about the hell that was her marriage. But as the first light of dawn crept over the horizon, Katherine knew she had to get up. She had to face another day of pretending to be the happy wife, when in reality, she was living a nightmare. She stood up, her joints stiff, and went back into the room, trying to compose herself before facing the day ahead.
