Unspoken Emotions — EPISODE FOUR
Gina slowly took the phone off her ear the moment she heard a man’s voice instead of Ella’s .
The number was unfamiliar, but the voice, oh, that voice rang a bell.
Her mind processed it almost instantly.
Yes… it was him, her "partner" at work.
Gina sighed heavily, breaking the awkward silence.
Gina: “Jeffrey… I’m sorry. A friend called earlier, so I thought it was the person, but, what is it? And how did you even get my number?”
Her tone began calm and apologetic, but ended in irritation.
Jeffrey: “I got it from the HR desk. We are working together, remember?”
His tone wasn’t warm, yet not entirely cold either.
To Jeffrey, the past was the past, and they had work to do.
But to Gina, his very presence was a reminder of wounds that hadn’t healed fully.
Jeffrey explained that they needed to meet the next morning to plan the project in detail. Gina had no choice but to agree.
It was a contract she was genuinely excited about, and whether she liked it or not, they had to work together to see it through.
If not for anything, she must comply with the success of the project.
Jeffrey: “Which hotel are you staying at? I’ll pick you up in the morning.”
Gina: “Please, let’s just meet at the site. I can find my way there.”
Jeffrey: “Gina, I’m not trying to please you. I just want a convenient way for both of us. We’ll head to the site together, take a look around, and return. My schedule tomorrow is packed, please.”
Gina hesitated.
"Am I overreacting?" She asked herself in mind.
Her voice softened.
“Alright then… I’m at a three star hotel called Golden Hotel.
There was a brief silence before Jeffrey chuckled.
Jeffrey: “You’ve got to be kidding me. I’m actually at Golden Restaurant right now, getting food. Do you mind joining me, "partner?”"
He said it playfully
Gina responded almost immediately, "No, please. Thank you. Tomorrow morning, 9 a.m. Bye.”
Before jeffrey could say anything, she hung up the call.
Gina dropped the phone onto the bed and lay back quietly, staring at the ceiling.
Her heart was pounding, not from anger alone, but from terrible memories that were crawling back.
Moments later, her phone rang again.
The same number.
This time, Truecaller revealed the name: “Jeffrey Plants.”
She declined the call instantly and texted back:
“Please, I’m busy. Leave a message.”
Just as she hit send, a new message popped up:
“I bought you fried rice. I’m leaving now. Pick it up when you’re free. The order code is 0145.”
Gina stared at the message in disbelief.
Her expression darkened.
“What is wrong with this guy?” she said to herself as she thrown her hands around.
“Why is he meddling in my life again?”
She decided not to reply.
Not a word.
Instead, she called Ella to update her, how her day had begun beautifully, only to end on a sour note she had not predicted.
