I could see Kelly’s mind ticking over, and to be fair, Jace had a point. If he was guilty, he’d easily have the means for a quick getaway, and wouldn’t be going anywhere near the police.
“If you’d like to come with us, sir, we can take a statement from you at the station,” the officer stated, moving in front of Jace.
Giving me one last glance, he followed the officer’s to their car and got in the back. Watching him as he was driven away by the police, the guilt swept over me, because I now knew that he had had absolutely nothing to do with what had happened.
