I put the tea aside and poured a glass of water from the jug on the desk instead. I would have to tell Davin about it later. I spent the next few hours translating a page from the diary and was shocked to find the room darkening when I finally looked up. The clock stood at six-thirty already. Gods, I was going to be late for dinner.
I dashed to the bathroom and had the quickest shower in history. I brushed my teeth with one hand and tried drying myself with the other awkwardly. There was no time for anything complicated, so I just smoothed my hair as best as possible and left it down. I slipped the dress over a set of black lacy underwear in the dressing room and then the heels.
The dress fit like a glove, feeling silky on my skin and following the curves of my shape. It drooped a little in the front, showing a hint of cleavage, and the heels just made everything look better. Not only did I look and feel sexy, but it was all very comfortable as well. Davin had great taste.
I added some rouge to my cheeks, eyeliner, and mascara, and I was good to go. The clock struck seven, and the room door opened. I left the dressing room and froze as Davin stood waiting in a black tuxedo, a single red rose in his hand.
My body reacted immediately; Gods, he was so handsome. His nostrils flared, and his eyes flickered to black. He could smell my arousal, and Geri was surfacing.
“Beautiful,” he growled lowly and quickly closed the gap between us.
He handed me the rose wordlessly, but his eyes told me everything, his wonder, lust, and love. Pulling me close, he gripped the back of my neck and gently touched his lips to mine, then he kissed me hard, my mouth automatically opening for him.
Desire flooded my body as tingles ran over my skin where we touched. My arms wrapped around his neck, and he grabbed my a.ss. I moaned; I could never get enough of this man, my man, my wolf. He squeezed my butt and pulled away quickly, leaving me dazed and wanton.
“Gia, my love. If we don’t stop now, we’ll never make it to dinner.” He shook his head as if to clear it of desire. “I’d like nothing more than to rip that dress right off you, but I should at least feed you first.”
“Where are we going?” I asked. Despite my intense curiosity in the morning, the day's events had wiped it from my mind. I needed to tell Davin about the tea, but it would definitely ruin our evening, and he seemed to have gone to some effort to make it memorable. I’d tell him later, after our evening together.
“It’s a surprise,” he grinned, transforming his face with boyish charm. “Where’s your mask?”
“Oh, it’s in the dressing room. I’ll get it,” I said.
I put down the rose and returned with the mask; Davin put it on for me.
“There,” he said. “Now you’re ready.”
Being blindfolded was disorientating, affecting my balance. Davin tucked some hair behind my ear and kissed the corner of my mouth. The sensations of his touch and the tingles were heightened as if my other senses were trying to make up for my lack of sight.
I shrieked as he swept me off my feet all of a sudden and started carrying me. I hadn’t realized how much I relied on my sight; everything felt strange simply because I couldn’t see it coming and wasn’t looking at it as it happened. I felt vulnerable.
He stopped somewhere, and I heard a door open, the lift door. I couldn’t tell if we were going up or down, suspended in his arms. I found it hard to care when so much of my body was touching his; his scent on its own was enough to trigger intense longing, and the added feeling of his muscles made me yearn with need.
The lift stopped, and the door opened. He walked for a while, then up some stairs, and I finally had an idea of where we were going. He was taking me to his aunt’s favorite place, the turret. Davin had reached the end of the stairs, and I could feel the fresh evening air on my skin. He kissed my cheek and nuzzled my neck.
“You’re the best thing that ever happened to me,” he whispered in my ear as he set me down. “Are you ready?” he asked quietly.
“Yes,” I said, nodding my head.
He stood behind me and gently slipped the mask from my face. I opened my eyes slowly, allowing them to adjust to the light, and gasped at the sight before me.
The sky boasted shades of purple and orange as the sun started setting, giving the quaint town a magical feeling. The area had been transformed into the picture of romance; the table and chairs had been cleaned and repainted and was laid with place settings, domed dishes, and linen, crystal glasses reflected the dusky light.
Potted plants dotted the edges of the circular space, and he had erected a pagoda with climbing vines and fairy lights intertwined. A variety of pillows were set out underneath it, offering a comfortable place to watch the now twinkling lights of the town, and I imagined the stars later.
Davin walked over to the table, picked up a bottle from the ice bucket, and poured two glasses. He returned, handing me one.
“Do you like it?” he asked almost nervously.
“I love it,” I breathed, looking around again. I couldn’t believe the difference.
“This is where you first opened up to me; I want this to be our special place from now on,” he said quietly, turning my face to him and gazing into my eyes. “Gia, I know I can never make up for our harsh beginning, but I want you to know I will spend every day of the rest of my life trying.”
My heart clenched. Harsh beginning didn’t come close to what had happened, but if I wanted to move forward with him, I had to let it go. That wasn’t to say that I’d ever accept that kind of behavior again, but as long as he treated me with respect, I’d be happy.
“Davin, it’s stunning, and I adore it.” I smiled. “The past is just that, past-and we should leave it there, as long as you never behave that way again.”
He raised his glass.
“To new beginnings,” he said, a hint of excitement in his eyes.
“To new beginnings,” I smiled as our glasses touched, the crystal creating a melodic sound. We sipped our drinks, lost in each other’s eyes.
He ran a finger down my cheek.
“I don’t deserve you, but I’m selfish,” he whispered and kissed me softly as if he were savoring a delicacy.
He broke the kiss before it took us to wilder places and gestured to the table.
“May I offer you a seat, Madamoiselle?”
“Certainly, kind sir,” I replied as he pulled out a chair.
He walked over to the pagoda and pressed a button on a speaker I’d only just noticed. Mellow strains of music started, perfecting the atmosphere. Once we were both seated, he lifted the domes from the plates, revealing an enticing salad.
“Sliced melon, carpaccio with coriander and lime,” he announced. “The chef was only too happy to make this special meal. He doesn’t often get to cook like this.”
That reminded me; I touched my power and opened my senses. Nothing. The food was clear of magic, and I relaxed.
“Well, it looks absolutely delicious. He’s outdone himself,” I replied.
I was ravenous and couldn’t wait to dig in; I had skipped lunch after the tea incident.
“This is just the entree, though, make sure you leave some room for the main and dessert,” he said, and as if on cue, my stomach grumbled. “Enough said,” he laughed.
The combination of flavors in the salad was exquisite, well-balanced, and a party for my taste buds. I couldn’t help but moan at the first bite. Davin looked at me intently, his eyes flickering to dark.
“Keep that up, and I’ll have to take you right here at the table, my queen.” His voice was raspy, a much deeper timbre.
“Geri?” I asked. Davin’s eyes flickered.
“Yes, my queen. I am here too. I need to make sure my stupid human does things right,” he grinned.
I laughed. Despite Davin's initial stupidity, Geri had always been good to me, and I loved him for it. I wondered if he resented me not having a wolf, a counterpart for him, but he seemed content with just me. I wanted to spend more time with him, even experience making love to him but didn’t know how to bring it up to Davin, not wanting him to feel like I was rejecting him.
“It’s good to see you, Geri,” I said. “I’ve missed you.”
Geri put down his knife and fork, stood up, and dragged his chair right up against mine. He leaned over and kissed me passionately, harshly, on the border of pleasure and pain. He pulled me into his lap and kissed down my neck, stopping just before he reached my mark. Heat flooded my core, and I held my breath in anticipation.
He ran his tongue across my mark and then sucked it, and I gasped as hot intense sensations overwhelmed me, washing over me in waves. Geri took a deep whiff and growled. He rose from the chair with me, turned, and put me back down in his chair.
“My queen, I must have some of you right now,” he said, his deep voice making me feel even hotter.
He slid a hand over my thigh, then lifted the hem of the dress, pushing it up and exposing my legs. Running his hands back up them, he looked into my eyes and pulled me forward so that I was barely sitting on the chair. I shivered; I knew what was coming, and I couldn’t wait.
He ran a finger over my panties and moaned, sliding it to one side and exposing my wet folds. He lowered his head between my legs and inhaled deeply. Gods, he was teasing me to distraction; all I could think about was his tongue, willing it to taste me. I wanted it; I needed it.
I got my wish soon enough; he kissed my folds gently and then ran his tongue from my opening to my bud, and my body jerked wildly, both shocked and overwhelmed by the feeling.
“Stay still, my queen, or I will have to punish you later,” Geri growled.
My mind was a mess, unable to think straight. Punish me? I was the one who usually meted out punishment, yet when the words left his mouth, my insides clenched. I was surprised to find that it turned me on, perhaps because I trusted him.
Geri closed his mouth over my bud and sucked gently, driving all thought from my mind. Unintelligible sounds came from my mouth as I bucked forward involuntarily, wanting, needing more, hardly able to breathe. My fingers threaded through his hair until I closed them, gripping his hair tightly and pushing him against me. I’d lost all control of myself, taken by a feral need. Geri chuckled.
“I see you want to be punished, my queen. I will save it for later.” He gripped my hips, and his tongue delved deep into me, moving in and out of me with just enough pressure.
Oh, Gods, the combination of his tongue and those words drove me over the edge, and I cried out wildly as I climaxed.
He didn’t stop. Lapping at me, he continued through my spasms until my body relaxed, and he’d licked the last drop.
“Next time, you will only c*m when I say you can,” he said, his voice low, a warning.
When my breathing finally returned to normal, he kissed me deeply, and I could taste myself. My wolf was going to drive me insane.
