Chapter 24: All the same, fright or fear
MAYA'S POV
They spoke loud enough but my ears decided to take a break and leave me devastated. Marianne, who I had not seen, came out and faked a smile. A weak attempt to convince me I was alright. After that she slipped back to the doctor's side and ushered him out.
I was going to die.This was unfair. I lived all my life in ridicule and a second to all and now when I finally found something to hold onto, life decided to push me out of its cold shade.
Of course, I was sure of my predicament.
Why else would the doctor put on a scared face? Why else would Kylian pretend to hold his anger while Marianne vanished out of sight? His Luna was about to leave him, finally he could have a chance at finding his real mate and not a fake like me.
