Maya's POV
My cheeks swelled in surprise. Why did I keep thinking of the opposite in his mind. Of course, he wasn't dumb enough to take me with him. He hadn't even taken me out of the palace with him except to the hospital. What was I thinking?
I stared at him with no reaction on my face because I struggled to keep it in the wraps.
“Why are you biting your lips?” He asked after scanning my face. It appeared he could sniff out that I was withholding something back.
“Nothing, I just didn't think I would be left in charge,” I lied, trying to cover up for thinking he would take me along.
“Don't worry, I'll keep my trusted guards in your aid as well,” he promised.
