  EVE   The words slipped out before I could stop them, and instantly, everything about him shifted.   Roman stopped walking. His jaw tightened.   "No."   I shouldn't have cared. God, I shouldn't have. But relief slid through me so fast, so unexpectedly, that it made me furious with myself.
