  ROMAN   I'd been sitting in that damn boardroom for over an hour, staring at the clock like it was mocking me. Every tick was louder than the last. Jerome had started pacing ten minutes in, muttering under his breath about how he hated waiting for rich people who thought time revolved around them.   I tried to focus on my coffee, but it was cold now, and the bitterness just matched my mood. My lawyer sat quietly beside me, reviewing files for the third time, probably out of boredom. The conference room felt like a cage.   "Do they think they're the only ones with money?" Jerome snapped suddenly, throwing his hands up. "An hour and twenty minutes late, Roman. One hour and freaking twenty minutes. I swear, if this man doesn't walk through that door soon, I'm billing him for my time."
