The tension in the air was thick, almost unbearable. After everything with the Crows, I hadn’t been able to focus, my mind spinning with too many thoughts, too many plans that didn’t seem like enough. I needed to stay sharp, needed to be ready for what was coming, but every time I looked at Sophie, every time her eyes met mine, something in me unraveled.
I could feel the weight of the day pressing down on me as I stepped inside the clubhouse. Razor had already taken off to check the perimeter, leaving me alone in the dimly lit room.
