Chapter 24Danny rewinds the video again, scrubbing back until the camera is right in Andrei’s face and then pressing play. “Andrei, do you have the quad flip yet?” a fan shouts over the noise of the crowd gathered outside the rink.
The shot swims into focus on Andrei’s face for the briefest of moments before he winks and says, “Watch and see!” To anyone else, the infinitesimal pause is just Andrei parsing their words over the din of his fans; a moment to turn noise into comprehensible words. But Danny knows Andrei, and he knows what that pause means.
