Chapter 3Danny winds up calling on Noah’s help in biology a handful more times as the school semester kicks off. He tries his best to time his texts and calls to when he knows Noah will be at practice so he can just leave a message and Noah can call him back when he’s ready, but Noah picks up half the time anyway, and he always has the time to help.
Danny drags Simon and Ella through biology in his wake, despite their ever-more-vocal curiosity about his mysterious tutor friend. “Are they prettier than me?” Ella asks after one study group, nervously patting her hair.
“Are they prettier than me?” Simon demands, mirroring her movements. Danny just laughs at them and turns back to his textbook. Best to keep the streams of Simon and Noah, at least, uncrossed, he thinks.
