The rumble of our bikes filled the yard as we prepared to leave. The sun had dipped below the trees, painting the sky in deep oranges and purples. I swung onto my motorcycle, the familiar weight of the saddle beneath me grounding me for what was coming. The notebook and flash drive were secure in my jacket. The brass key from the church pressed against my chest like a promise and a warning. Jax rode at the front, his broad shoulders set with command. Knox took the right flank, throttle ready, energy still crackling from earlier. Ryder stayed on my left, his movements careful but determined despite the pain in his side. Bear, still pale but stubborn, rode behind us. Five bikes cutting through the fading light toward Raven’s Keep. The road wound through thick woods, overgrown and narrow. B
